Reading Cooperative Bank Serves Up Breakfast At Lazarus House

(NOTE: Reading Cooperative Bank has two locations in Wilmington — 230 Lowell Street and 352 Middlesex Avenue.)

READING, MA — Over the last several months, several Reading Cooperative Bank employees have volunteered their time once a month to serve breakfast at the Lazarus House Soup Kitchen, located in Lawrence, MA. The kitchen serves breakfast and a hot, nutritious noon-time meal to anyone who comes through its doors, 7 days a week from November to April.

Our guests have asked, “Are those nice people coming back” referring to the RCB. The guests are amazed that a bank would take time to serve, let alone buy and prepare food to serve. I hear comments such as, “the food is awesome, better than Mondays continental breakfast, very friendly servers.” The guests truly enjoy the experience of a well prepared meal, especially on a Wednesday, a day they are not used to. Says Miguel Cruz, Community Resource Specialist.

“Being able to give back to the community is a rewarding experience. The people we serve at Lazarus House are incredible, and being able to help them start their day with a hearty breakfast is awesome,” says Beth Martin, Executive Assistant..
