BILLERICA, MA – Shawsheen Tech is pleased to release a student-produced video highlighting students in non-traditional trades for their gender.
Students credit their instructors and parents as main reasons for choosing the shop and for supporting along the way! Students addressed some of the barriers to choosing a non-traditional shop and how they overcame or ignored those barriers.
The producers of the video (also non-trade shops for their gender), were asked to address the audience and “feature their video” at the Girls in Trade Conference at Local 103 IBEW last Thursday to approximately 400-450 people in industry and representatives from vocational education — both students and faculty.
The stars of the video include:

- Maren Williams – Automotive Collision Repair & Refinishing (AB-12)
- Samira Jamal-Eddine Plumbing (PL-12)
- Cyril Conley Cosmetology (CO-12)
