PHOTO: Austin Prep’s Academic Decathlon Team Wins Small Schools Regional Championship

READING, MA — The Academic Decathlon Team recently won the Massachusetts Academic Decathlon Small Schools Regional Championship at Quincy High, and advanced to the state finals at MIT.

Austin Prep won the competition by a margin of about 2,300 points over the second-place team. Competing members were Pedro Castro ’17, Jared Perrone ’17, Thomas Burnham ’18, Bryan Snow ’18, Spencer Casey ’19, James Moro ’19, Sana Nadkarni ’19, and Ethan Tilley ’19.

Burnham, a Wilmington resident, received Honorable Mention in Art, Economics, History, and Math.

Club moderators Mr. Ed MacKenzie ’99, History Faculty, and Ms. Kayla Greenwood, Theology Faculty, are grateful to Mr. Ted Williams, History Faculty, for volunteering to serve as a Speech and Interview judge for the competition, and to Mr. Charles Gracy, Arts Faculty, and Ms. Jessica Foster, English Faculty, for their assistance in preparing the students for the speech competition.
