PHOTOS: Shawsheen Tech Students Honored At State House For Suicide Prevention Efforts In Wilmington

BOSTON, MA — Shawsheen Tech CARES received the Massachusetts Coalition for Suicide Prevention Leadership in Suicide Prevention Award at the Massachusetts State House on Monday, March 6 during the Coalition’s State House Day.

Shawsheen students Leo Frisella, Patrick Baker, Shannon Vasas, Meghan Callahan and Alyssa Cappiello, along with Guidance Counselor Angela Caira, accepted the award for Shawsheen.

The Lowell Sun reported that, in October, the Tech’s student orientation leaders, under the supervision of Caira, collaborated with the Wilmington Public Schools’ CARES after-school program to teach 4th and 5th graders how to better identify and manage their emotions in a healthy way.
