10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (March 1, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are TEN things you need to know in Wilmington for Wednesday, March 1, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see achance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 5pm. Patchy fog before 8am. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 66. Southwest wind 7 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

#2) Wilmington High School Lamplighters Guild presents “The Lottery” (by Shirley Jackson, adapted by Brainerd Duffield, in accordance with Dramatic Publishing Inc.) TONIGHT at 7pm in the Wilmington High School Auditorium. Tickets cost $5 per person and will be sold at the door. This one-act performance will be followed by a talk-back with the cast/crew to discuss the process, plus the poignancy of this story in today’s world. The Guild will go on to perform the play at the Massachusetts Educational Theater Guild (METG) One-Act Preliminaries in Chelmsford on March 4.  WHS will compete against seven other schools for a chance to advance to the semi-finals.

#4) The Wilmington Conservation Commission meets at 7pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE.

 

#5) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs today:

  • Kindergarten Book Club (3:45pm)
  • Summer Activities Fair (6:30pm-8pm)

  • SBF Exercise (9:45am)
  • Special Exercise (11am)
  • Country Line Dancing (1pm)

#7) The Wilmington Police Department offers safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) every Wednesday, 10am-2pm. No appointment is necessary, but calling ahead at 978-658-5071 is recommended. Learn more HERE.

#9) The Wilmington Band Parents Association is holding its monthly meeting at 7pm at Wilmington High.

#10) The Northside PAC is holding its monthly meeting at 9am at the Woburn Street School.
