Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of February 12, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, February 12, 2017.

Sunday, February 12:

  • A caller reported the front door to an unnamed Middlesex Avenue business was smashed. It did not appear any access was gained. (12:32pm)
  • Police received multiple calls of a man hole cover open on Main Street. Police notified Mass Highway. (12:33pm)
  • A black 2017 Jeep Cherokee, a black 2008 Chevy Trailblazer and a green 2006 Ford Five Hundred were involved in a minor crash at Middlesex Avenue and Glen Road. One vehicle towed. (1:38pm)
  • A Walnut Street caller reported two ATVs were operating in the street, pulling a child on a sled. Police responded and were unable to locate. (2:59pm)
  • A party on Isabella Way pushed snow from driveway into road. Police advised party to clear it. (5:28pm)
  • A caller reported a tree was down in the road at Butters Row and Factory Road. Tree was pushed to side of road. Police notified DPW for removal and to warn plows. (7:15pm)
  • A caller reported a tree was down in the road on Ballardvale Street. Tree was pushed to side of road. Police notified DPW for removal. (7:46pm)
  • Police received report of a dark sedan pulling sled on Boutwell Street and Burlington Avenue. Police were unable to locate. (7:51pm)
  • A sedan struck a street sign and got stuck in the island at Shawsheen Avenue and Nichols Street. (8:28pm)
  • An employee at Golden Ginger notified police that customer was served two drinks and does not appear in condition to be driving. Customer was voluntarily transported to Winchester Hospital. (8:40pm)
  • A King St. Ext. resident reported a tree branch was resting on wires. Police notified RMLD. (10:17pm)
  • State Police handled a hit and run on the 93 North Exit 40 ramp. (10:38pm)
  • Police received report of a wire down across the roadway on Main Street and Cross Street. Police notified Verizon. (10:48pm)

Monday, February 13:

  • Police notified DPW of a large tree limb down on Broad Street. (2:25am)
  • Police notified Verizon of a wire down on Nichols Street. (4:50am)
  • Police notified RMLD of wires arcing on Royal Street. (6:00am)
  • Police notified Mass Highway of a damaged manhole cover at Main Street and Glen Road. (7:14am)
  • A Carter Lane caller claimed a plow plowed snow into his yard and sidewalk area overnight. (7:17am)
  • Police notified DPW of a downed tree blocking roadway on Hillside Way. (7:56am)
  • Police notified Verizon of a down wire on Woburn Street. (9:12am)
  • Police spoke to management at Red Heat Tavern to tell its plowers not to plow snow into roadway and beyond fog line. (9:22am)
  • Police notified DPW of a tree branch down at entrance of Wildwood Cemetery. (9:55am)
  • A caller reported a female on Lake Street was snowblowing into the street, and snow struck her vehicle, causing her to swerve. Police were unable to locate. (10:06am)
  • Police notified RMLD of large limb down on several wires and power outage in Linda Road/Carolyn Road area. (10:10am)
  • A red 2001 Chevy Trailblazer drove through a fence on Wisser Street. Vehicle towed. No injuries. (10:51am)
  • A tree came down on a Gray 2014 Chevy Silverado on Salem Street. No injuries. Vehicle towed. (11:27am)
  • Police notified DPW of tree falling nearing tracks on Glen Road. (11:34am)
  • A caller reported a tree and wires were down in the roadway on Park Street. RMLD, Verizon and DPW notified. (12:08pm)
  • A Shawsheen Avenue caller reported a plow truck and sidewalk plow came by within moments of each other and put snow back into his driveway and onto his person. Police advised him to contact DPW. (1:16pm)
  • Joan M. Corsetti (56, Reading) was arrested for an OUI and Failure to Yield at Intersection. Corsetti was involved in a 2-vehicle crash at Woburn Street and Kenwood Avenue. (3:57pm)
  • Renan Louback Machado (26, Revere) was arrested on an outstanding warrant. (10:03pm)

Tuesday, February 14:

  • John Patrick Edmunds (45, Woburn) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration, no inspection sticker, and miscellaneous motor vehicle equipment violations. Edmunds was pulled over at West Street and Suncrest Avenue. (1:05am)
  • Police notified Water Department of a water leak on Jaquith Road. Water was temporarily shut down in the area. (5:21am)
  • A brown 2008 Dodge Caliber got stuck in a snowbank in the Wilmington Plaza. (11:23am)
  • A blue 2007 Pontiac Vibe and a blue 2010 Toyota Corolla were involved in a crash on Main Street near Market Basket. No major injuries. Airbag deployment. Both vehicles towed. (12:02pm)
  • Police notified DPW that school zone lights near North Intermediate were not flashing. (2:32pm)
  • A caller reported a black pickup truck was passing people on the wrong side of the road on Burlington Avenue. Police were unable to locate, and notified Burlington Police. (5:28pm)
  • A caller reported he hit an unknown animal on Burlington Avenue, which got up and ran into the woods.  Caller was unable to describe the animal, but wanted the incident logged in case it was a dog. (6:54pm)
  • A caller reported an erratic operator on Shawsheen Avenue, heading toward Tewksbury, with possible car damage. Police located debris, a license plate and beer cans on Shawsheen Avenue near the Cranbury Bog. Police notified Tewksbury Police. (11:57pm)

Wednesday, February 15:

  • State Police handled a truck fire on 93 South, near Exit 41. (5:08am)
  • A black 2017 BMW SE and a gray 2015 Volvo SE were involved in a crash on Main Street. No injuries noted. (7:18am)
  • A Woburn Street resident reported someone attempted to open a PayPal account under his name. (8:30am)
  • A blue 2006 Acura slid off the roadway at Ballardvale Street and Research Drive. A tow truck was called for, but then cancelled, after the vehicle was able to get back on the road. (9:13am)
  • Police issued a citation to a driver for failure to remove snow from their vehicle. (9:16am)
  • Police issued 12 parking citations in the MBTA Parking Lot. (12:17pm)
  • Assistant Manager at Market Basket requested an officer due to a shoplifting incident. (2:07pm)
  • Police installed 3 safety seats during its weekly hours. (2:09pm)
  • Police issued a citation for texting while driving in front of the Registry of Motor Vehicles on Middlesex Avenue. (2:57pm)

Thursday, February 16:

  • RMLD reported it received several calls from residents saying a large tree fell on Dunton Road, blocking the roadway. Wires were tangled up with the tree.  Police notified RMLD, Verizon, and the Wilmington DPW (Tree Department). Roadway was eventually cleared. (6:19am)
  • Police noticed the school zone sign after the Wildwood School was knocked down by a plow and laying in the snow. Police notified DPW. (8:46am)
  • Police issued 16 parking citations in the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. (11:51am)
  • A white 2012 Dodge Ram and a black 2004 Jeep Wrangler were involved in a crash on Burlington Avenue. No injuries noted. (2:24pm)
  • A yellow 2003 Chevy Express and a red 2015 Chrysler Town & Country were involved in a crash at Route 38 and Border Avenue. The Town & Country was acting as an Uber, transporting juveniles to their aunt’s house. Aunt took them into custody unharmed. No injuries. (3:02pm)
  • Amanda Renee Robichaud (25, Wilmington) was placed into protective custody after a caller was concerned for her well-being over her slurred speech. (4:32pm)
  • A walk-in party reported his iPad was stolen. (4:52pm)
  • Police assisted with a motor vehicle lockout at Triton Car Wash. (10:23pm)

Friday, February 17:

  • Gretchen Fielding (43, Wilmington) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, license not in possession, and no inspection sticker. (1:42am)
  • Police conducted school bus enforcement at Emerald Avenue and Andover Street, and later at Chestnut Street and Butters Row. They observed no violations. (6:10am, 8:10am)
  • Mark A. Mercuri (44, Wilmington) was issued a summons for the negligent operation of a motor vehicle, speeding, and no inspection sticker. (8:49am)
  • Fire Department responded to a person stuck in an elevator at Analog Devices on Woburn Street. (4:30pm)
  • A Magazine Road resident reported 3-4 juveniles rang the door bell.  When the resident answered the door, the juveniles were across the street yelling swears. (8:01pm)

Saturday, February 18:

  • A blue 2005 Ford Explorer struck a pole on Glen Road. The pole snapped and several wires were down. Police notified Verizon and RMLD. Vehicle was towed. No injuries noted. (1:05am)
  • 2 parties were caught going through dumpsters on Jewel Drive. Police sent them on their way. (1:44am)
  • A Wilton Drive resident reported their vehicle was broke into. (9:50am)
  • A caller witnessed a man beating his dog inside his vehicle in the Market Basket parking lot. Police notified Reading Police as the driver was from Reading. Reading Police sent an officer to the driver’s home.  Man said “he got mad at the dog because he ate his chicken salad.” Officer observed the dog, which did not look injured. (2:58pm)
  • A caller reported he witnessed a dark SUV with four occupants pouring wine into cups as they were driving. Police pulled the vehicle over on Burlington Avenue. Police issued a written warning for marked lane violation, but found no indication of alcohol in the vehicle. (6:27pm)
  • A walk-in party reported receiving threatening text messages. (8:07pm)
