OBITUARY: Mary E. McDonald, 92

WILMINGTON, MA — Mary E. McDonald (McCarron), age 92, of Wilmington, passed away on February 21, 2017. Mary was a loving wife and mother, she was predeceased by her husband the late Jerome P. McDonald and young son Michael McDonald. She was the devoted mother of Jeanne Liston of Wilmington, Nancy Peabody & her husband Mark Peabody of Londonderry, NH. Mother in law of Kenneth Liston of Haverhill, loving grandmother of Joseph Liston, Michael Peabody, Meredith Peabody, and Nathan Peabody, cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Blanche (LaBonte) McCarron. Mary is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and friends.

Mary was a U. S. Air Force Veteran who proudly served during the Korean War.

Mary was a very active member of the Wilmington Senior Center where she would spend endless hours socializing with her friends, enjoying game day, movies, and exercise classes. Mary was also an avid bowler, joining her longtime friends and teammates every week for bowling and luncheons.

As a Veteran, Mary was proud to serve her country, always happy to attend Veterans events and parades where she would often be the oldest woman veteran honored.

Most of all she always enjoyed the time she spent with her daughters and their families; attending the grandchildren’s sporting events, family vacations, and participating in the milestones in her grandchildren’s lives which were always a highlight for her. Mary so enjoyed attending family gatherings and holidays. She loved spending time with members of her extended family and these precious times were what kept Mary young at heart.

Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Monday, February 27th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Thomas of Villanova Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Woburn, MA. Visiting Hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Sunday, February 26th from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be made to http://www.FinalSaluteinc.org which supports Homeless Women Veterans and their children.
