Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of February 5, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, February 5, 2017.

Sunday, February 5:

  • A caller reported a mattress fell off the back of a truck on 93 South between Exits 42 and 41. Caller followed the truck to Lucci’s Supermarket Plaza. Police notified State Police to handle. (5:10am)
  • Fire Department issued 2 burn permits. (11:10am)
  • An anonymous caller reported 2 males in a black pick-up truck at Speedway on Main Street engaging in possible drug activity.  Vehicle was gone by the time police arrived. (12:05pm)
  • Manager at Sonic reported a hostile customer causing a disturbance. Police responded, spoke to both parties, and restored the peace. Customer agreed to go to a different restaurant. (3:32pm)
  • A caller reported a male, approximately mid-twenties, passed out in a vehicle in the Metro at Wilmington Station parking lot for an extended period of time. Man seemed impaired when he awoke and drove away towards Burlington on Route 62. Police were unable to locate. (5:07pm)

Monday, February 6:

  • A Brand Avenue caller reported a bottle of what appears to be urine – with a label “Elixir of Life” – was left next to her mailbox. This was a repeat incident. She requested extra patrols. (12:28am)
  • Police received report that a window on a vehicle parked on Main Street was damaged by a BB gun sometime over the weekend. (11:54am)
  • An anonymous caller reported a male party riding an ATV in the roadway on Allen Park Drive. Police were unable to locate the ATV. (12:52pm)
  • A Bluejay Court caller reported an unknown person damaged her porch by kicking in its rails. Caller described man as a white male in a dark colored jeep. Wilmington Police notified Tewksbury and Billerica Police. (4:33pm)
  • A Brand Avenue caller and her husband witnessed a man leave a jug of urine on their property.  They followed the man on foot and observing him enter on a house around the corner. Police responded and made contact with the house’s occupants. (10:31pm)

Tuesday, February 7:

  • A gray 2012 Mazda struck two mailboxes on Nichols Street. No injuries. Vehicle towed. (3:03am)
  • An SUV and a flatbed truck were involved in a crash on Ballardvale Street. Police notified DPW to sand the area. Everyone onscene refused medical attention. (11:06am)
  • A caller reported a Cunningham Street resident threw snow at a plow truck. Police spoke with the plow truck driver, who confirmed the incident. Police spoke with the resident in question and advised them of the town’s snow removal ordinances. Resident was not cooperative. (1:04pm)
  • Manager at Panera Bread reported receiving a possible counterfeit bill. (2:08pm)
  • A plow truck, possibly contracted by the town, struck a National Grid work truck that was parked near the Wilmington/Andover town line. Andover DPW did not believe the plow belonged to them. (2:40pm)
  • Police had a vehicle towed that was blocking in another vehicle in the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. (3:05pm)
  • Police issued 4 parking tickets in the MBTA Parking Lot. (3:45pm)
  • A blue 2002 Honda Civic and a black 2011 Chevy Equinox were involved in a crash on Chestnut Street. One of the cars struck a pole and flipped over. No injuries noted. Street shut down. RMLD notified and responded. (4:53pm)
  • A gray 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander struck a pole at Adams Street and Middlesex Avenue. No injury noted. Vehicle towed. RMLD notified. (8:48pm)
  • Police notified DPW of overall slippery road conditions around town. DPW to send out sanders. (10:22pm)
  • A plow struck a black 2009 Chevy Impala parked in a lot on Bay Street. (11:22pm)

Wednesday, February 8:

  • A silver 2011 Ford F350 and a blue 2012 Subaru SE were involved in a crash on Federal Street. Street was temporarily closed. No injuries reported. 1 vehicle towed. Police drove one of the drivers home to North Reading. (6:37am)
  • A Morningside Drive resident reported water was leaking into her basement. Police notified DPW. (7:06am)
  • Police issued a citation for failure to remove snow/ice from windshield on Adams Street. (8:48am)
  • A walk-in party reported while pumping gas at AL Prime, he had selected the low grade type gas and it automatically switched to mid-grade gas. He made the attendant aware and stated it was the second time it occurred. (10:41am)
  • A caller reported her grandmother was contacted by a party claiming to be a Boston Police detective requesting her and her granddaughters’ names. The caller did not give out any information and the party hung up when questioned further. (11:54am)
  • Police issued 15 parking citations in the MBTA Parking Lot on Main Street. (1:48pm)
  • Caller reported the back windshield of his vehicle was smashed while parked at the Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street. Police unable to determine cause. (4:17pm)
  • A walk-in party reported she struck a pothole on Main Street yesterday causing $600 in damage. (5:12pm)
  • Police issued 7 speeding tickets on Aldrich Road and Butters Row. (6:22pm)
  • A 3-vehicle crash occurred at Route 62 and the 93 North Exit 40 ramp. No injuries noted. All vehicles towed. (7:19pm)
  • Fire Department responded to 3 parties stuck in an elevator at the high school. (8:14pm)
  • Joseph M. Morrow (24, Boston) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. (11:14pm) [NOTE: Morrow is a 24-year-old defenseman for the Boston Bruins.]

Thursday, February 9:

  • Police responded to a fight on a train, stopped at the MBTA’s Wilmington Center station. Police restored the police and drove one of the involved men home. (12:45am)
  • A gray 2001 Toyota Highlander and a white 2012 Chevy Traverse were involved in a crash on Route 125. No injuries noted. State Police notified. (2:34pm)
  • A vehicle became stuck in a snowbank near the Subway on Ballardvale Street. Tow truck was able to get the vehicle out of the snow. No damage. (4:50pm)
  • Two Siberian Huskies were reported missing, with leash attached, after running away from the Shawsheen School field. (5:18pm)
  • Police was flagged down by DPW workers on Shawsheen Avenue. Workers notified police of an erratic operator driving a pickup truck with a flag on it headed down 129 towards Main Street. Police were unable to locate. (6:28pm)
  • Police received a complaint from a Chestnut Street caller who believed his car was purposely plowed in. (8:01pm)

Friday, February 10:

  • Police responded to a man sleeping in a vehicle in the Shell gas station on Main Street. Situation checked OK — man was an Uber driver catching a nap. (1:08am)
  • Police issued a verbal warning to a driver on Main Street for failure to remove large amount of snow of vehicle. (8:33am)
  • Police assisted driver of a black 2002 Honda Accord who locked herself out of her vehicle at Cumberland Farms on Main Street. (9:44am)
  • A Cresent Street party reported a lost passport. (10:06am)
  • Manager at Panera Bread reported discovering three $30 counterfeit bills. (10:13am)
  • Timothy Paul Roy (53, Billerica) was issued a summons for malicious destruction of property valued at $250 plus, disturbing the peace, and threatening to commit a crime. Roy was allegedly a disgruntled employee at Shell gas station on Main Street who struck a windshield with a tire iron, then drove off north on Route 38. (10:17am)
  • A resident at CareOne in Wilmington reported a missing ring believed to be stolen within the past week. (12:40pm)
  • Police notified Water Department of a water main break at UniFirst Corporation on Jonspin Road. (1:36pm)
  • Heavenly Donuts store owner reported possible fake bills. (1:51pm)
  • Police issued 3 speeding tickets at Wilmington Middle School. (2:10pm)
  • Police notified DPW that a stop sign in the Wilmington Crossing Plaza was down. (4:38pm)
  • A caller reported a past hit and run from around 2pm on Beacon Street involving a FedEx truck. (7:20pm)
  • Manager of K1 Speed reported 4 vehicles doing donuts in the parking lot. (9:00pm)
  • Kevin P. Blair (53, Wilmington) was arrested for OUI Liquor, negligent operation of motor vehicle, and speeding. (11:25pm)
  • Christopher Anthony Ramsdell (35, Wilmington) was arrested for OUI Liquor (3rd Offense), leaving scene of personal injury, negligent operation of motor vehicle, failure to yield, marked lanes violation and leaving scene of property damage.  Ramsdell allegedly struck another vehicle on Middlesex Avenue, drove down Clark Street where he struck a pole, and was eventually placed into custody in the St. Thomas parking lot. (11:48pm)

Saturday, February 11:

  • Police spoke with a driver doing donuts in the Fourth of July Building’s parking lot and sent him on his way. (7:09am)
  • Police notified DPW of reports that Buttersrow Bridge was impassible. (10:12am)
  • Police assisted with a motor vehicle lockout at the Shriners Auditorium. (12:09pm)
  • A Jones Avenue resident reported receiving a possible scam call involving chimney sweeping services. (1:33pm)
  • Lucci’s owner believes counterfeit money was used. (3:26pm)
  • Police responded to reports of 4 vehicles doing donuts in the K1 Speed parking lot on Fordham Road. Police advised operators and sent them on their way. (8:12pm)
  • Police issued a ticket for fire lane violation in front of Game Stop in the Wilmington Plaza. (8:45pm)
  • Police issued summons to Justin M. Denorscia (20, Wilmington) and 3 juveniles for possession of liquor under the age of 21.  The individuals were in two vehicles in the K1 Speed parking lot. The juveniles were released to their parents. Alcohol and Class D were confiscated and brought back to the station for destruction. (10:25pm)
