WILMINGTON, MA — Town Manager Jeff Hull announced at Monday’s Board of Selectmen Meeting that six petitioned warrant articles were submitted by citizens for inclusion on the 2017 Annual Town Meeting warrant:
- Derek Santini is seeking to rezone 278 Lowell Street (Map 27, Lot 1B) from General Business (GB) to Residential 20 (R2). [NOTE: This is land next to Burger King.]
- Mark Nelson is seeking to declare the official town map invalid, abandoned and not in compliance with MGL Chapter 41, Section 81E.
- Edward Hill, Jr. is seeking to purchase town-owned land at 16 St. Paul Street (Map 54, Parcel 37).
- Scott Garrant is seeking to rezone 16 Crescent Street and Rhodes Street (Map 54, Parcels 55 & 60A) from Residential 10 (R10) and Residential 20 (R20) to Residential 10 (R10).
- Michael Newhouse is seeking to rezone 80 Main Street (Map 45, Parcel 137) from Residential 10 (R10) to Neighborhood Business (NB).
- Michael Welch is seeking to rezone 636 Main Street (Map 40, Parcel 1) from General Industrial (GI) to Neighborhood Mixed Use (NM).
In addition, Selectmen received a memo from Planning Director Valerine Gingrich detailing the Planning Board’s intention on submitting five warrant articles which address the following issues:
- Establishing a temporary moratorium on Recreational Marijuana establishments
- Clarifying how an average front yard is calculated when an adjoining lot is a corner lot
- Defining Research & Development (R&D) as a stand-alone use and allowing the use as-of-right in the Highway Industrial Districts (Ballardvale Street & Fordham Road).
- Deleting the requirement for a new owner of a structure containing an accessory apartment to obtain a new certificate of occupancy.
- Reflecting a change in state law regarding nonconforming uses.
The Wilmington Board of Selectmen will be finalizing and closing the warrant at one of its upcoming meeting, at which time all town-sponsored warrant articles will be announced.
The 2017 Wilmington Annual Town Meeting will take place on Saturday, April 29 at 10:30am in the WHS Auditorium.
