WILMINGTON MA — Margaret L. Doane (Hutson), age 88, a long-time resident of Wilmington, MA, died peacefully on February 11, 2017, at the Filosa Nursing Center in Danbury, CT.
Margaret was born on November 12, 1928, in Boston, MA; she was the dear daughter of the late Ebert and Elizabeth (Regan) Hutson. Margaret was raised in a large family which included her siblings Leona, Martha, Elbert, Thomas, John, Francis, and Richard.
Margaret married John Doane; the couple shared more than 54 wonderful years together before his passing in 2004. Margaret was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother; she cared for her family very deeply. Margaret was especially proud of her grandchildren; they were the light of her life.
Margaret loved to play tennis, which she continued to play into her 80’s and traveled widely. She also enjoyed playing cards with her card group and having lunch with her many friends. Margaret was known for her love of reading and she had a wealth of knowledge.
She will be fondly remembered for her great sense of humor, her wonderful smile, and her impressive intellect. Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Margaret was the beloved wife of the late John D. Doane, devoted mother of Sharon Dunphy and her husband Robert of Ridgefield, CT and Maureen Ryan & her husband Fletcher of Mystic, CT. She was the loving grandmother of Christine and Robert Dunphy and Kevin Ryan. Margaret is also survived by her nieces, nephews, and friends.
Family and friends will gather at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rte. 62), Wilmington, on Friday, February 17th for Visitation from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 noon immediately followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 noon. Interment will take place in Wildwood Cemetery, Wilmington.
