OBITUARY: Henry Lasman, 93

FALMOUTH, MA – Henry Lasman, 93, formerly of Falmouth, MA, died on Tuesday, February 7, 2017 in Palo Alto, CA.

He was born on June 8, 1923 in Lodz, Poland. After surviving the Holocaust, he earned a BS in chemical engineering in Zurich, Switzerland. He married Erna Weinberg, also a Holocaust survivor, in Davos, Switzerland in 1950. They emigrated to the U.S. in 1955, where they settled and raised their family in Wilmington and Andover, MA.

Starting his career as a laboratory chemist, he worked for National Polychemicals, where he and a small team of chemical engineers patented several chemical agents that became widely used in the industry. He went on to become their VP of marketing. He finished his career at Compo Industries, where he served as general manager of manufacturing and VP of technology. After his retirement in 1988, he continued to consult with Compo and its successor firms for nearly 20 years.

Henry was an avid gardener, traveler, woodworker and swimmer.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 67 years, Erna; son, Daniel, and his wife, Ann, of Boston; daughter, Susan LaPointe, and her husband, Brion, of Los Altos, Calif.; and four grandchildren, Ben and Sam Lasman, Michele Milev and Matt LaPointe.

The family will hold a private memorial at a later date.
