CHELMSFORD, MA — Thomas Deehy Goodwin, 79, of Chelmsford, MA, died Friday, February 3, 2017 at Sunny Acres Nursing Home.
He was married to the late Barbara Goodwin who died on August 29, 2001.
Born in Swampscott, MA he was the son of the late Carl and Anne Deehy Goodwin. He graduated from Swampscott High School with the class of 1955.
He proudly served with the U.S. Coast Guard for 8 years
Tom worked as a Process Control Supervisor at Lmi-Milton Roy, Acton, MA. before retiring in 1995. He previously worked at J.B.F. Scientific of Wilmington, MA.
Thomas was a member of the U.S. Naval Institute and American Film Institute. He enjoyed photography, woodworking, and deep sea fishing. He was also an extremely charitable donor, especially to Native American organizations and the D.A.V.
He is survived by his children, Thomas Goodwin II and his wife Linda of Fitchburg, and Kelly Hennessey of Stoneham, two grandchildren, Jason Goodwin and Ashley Hennessey; his brother, Daniel Goodwin and his wife, Kitt of Tampa, FL, and his sister-in-law Virginia Ogonosky of Concord, MA.
He was the brother of the late Carl Goodwin of Swampscott who died in January of 2013.
All services were private. Burial in Pine Ridge Cemetery, Chelmsford. Memorials may be made in his name to the Disabled American Veteran’s charity at https://www.dav.org. Arrangements by Dolan Funeral Home.
