WILMINGTON, MA — The Town of Wilmington seeks talented individuals to join the summer Recreation Department team.
The Town is currently recruiting for the following positions:
Playground Supervisor – 27.5 hours per week
The Playground Supervisor is responsible for the supervision of children ages 7 – 14 in a day camp setting at the Shawsheen School offering a variety of programs, activities and field trips.
Staff hours are 8:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., weekdays from June 26 through August 3, 2017, plus some orientation and planning hours.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Director, duties include, but are not limited to; supervise staff and counselors in training (CIT), provide direction and instruction to staff; assist with management of camper issues and enforce safety rules and regulations.
Qualifications at time of application: Minimum of 2 years of previous experience working with large groups of children in a recreational setting and knowledge of group events/activities/sports/games. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Starting hourly rate: $24.00 – $25.00 depending on experience.
Silver Lake Beach Supervisor – approximately 35 hours per week
The Beach Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the beach at Silver Lake.
The Beach is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm from mid-June to mid-August. Beach Supervisor must be available weekdays and weekends.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Recreation Director, duties include, but are not limited to: supervise staff, provide direction and instruction to staff; manage cash receipts and facility maintenance. Includes lifeguarding duty.
Qualifications at time of application: Minimum of 3 years of previous experience working in a pool/beach setting; Certified Lifeguard/Lifeguard Instructor with Waterfront Experience and 1st Aid/CPR certifications. Applicants must be at least 21 years of age.
Starting hourly rate: $24.00 – $25.00 depending on experience.
Silver Lake Lifeguards – approximately 25 to 35 hours per week
The Lifeguards perform lifesaving and first aid duties and ensure safety and comfort of beach patrons at all times.
The Beach is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm from mid-June to mid-August. Lifeguards must be available weekdays and weekends.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Beach Supervisor, duties include, but are not limited to: lifeguard duty; facility maintenance; and enforce beach rules. May also include checking IDs, gate attendance and collecting gate receipts.
Qualifications at time of application: Certified Lifeguard/Lifeguard Instructor with Waterfront Safety. Applicants must be at least 16 years of age.
Hourly rate: $13.00
Gate Attendants – approximately 10 – 15 hours per week
The Gate Attendants enforce beach rules, check IDs and collect gate receipts.
The Beach is open from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm from mid-June to mid-August. Gate Attendants must be available weekends.
Working under the direction and supervision of the Beach Supervisor, duties include, but are not limited to: enforce beach rules, check IDs; and collect gate receipts.
Qualifications at time of application: Applicants must be at least 16 years of age. Hourly rate: $11.00
For all positions listed, previous employment with Wilmington Recreation is preferred.
