WILMINGTON, MA — Joseph D. Murphy, age 80, of Wilmington, passed away on February 2, 2017, at home surrounded by his loving family. Joe was the beloved husband of Catherine (Barr) Murphy of Wilmington, loving father of Joseph Murphy, Brian Murphy & his wife Christine Losea all of Cumberland, RI, Jeffrey Murphy of Wilmington and the late Lynne Murphy, devoted “Grampy” of Matthew, Caitlin, Jack, Zachary and Annika Murphy, son of the late Joseph and Mary (Barletta) Murphy, brother-in-law of Francis X. Barr & his wife Jean of Oxford, CT. Joseph is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather for a funeral at the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Rt. 62), Wilmington, on Thursday, February 9th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Thomas Church, 126 Middlesex Ave., Wilmington at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Wildwood Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held at the Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 8th from 4-8 p.m. Memorial donations in Joseph’s name can be made to the Winchester Hospital Foundation, 41 Highland Ave., Winchester, MA 01890.
