WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington High School announced on Thursday that Craig Turner has agreed to become its next varsity football head coach.
Turner was the head football coach at Mystic Valley Regional Charter School in Malden for the past four years. Under Turner’s leadership, Mystic Valley had an overall record of 28-15, while winning the Commonwealth Athletic Conference in 2015 and 2016.
Turner took over a Mystic Valley program that had only one winning season in school history and doubled participation numbers during his tenure.
Mystic Valley was a three-time Section Finalist (2014-2016) and Coach Turner was named CAC (small division) Coach of the Year in 2014 and 2016. Coach Turner was named Boston Globe Coach of the Year in 2014 for Division 6 and was a New England Patriots Coach of the Week award winner in 2014.
As a player, Turner was a three-year starter on offensive line at Nichols College and won the 1999 Super Bowl as a member of Billerica High School.
Coach Turner is a Member of the Massachusetts High School Football Coaches Association and is a certified MIAA coach.
