POLICE LOG for January 15: Car Purposely Striking Trash Barrels; Syringe Found

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SEVEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, January 15, 2017:

  • A gray 2003 Saturn SE L200 struck a tree on Shawsheen Avenue. The driver Sean D. Collins (18, Billerica) was issued citations for reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation , speeding, and failure to wear a seatbelt. (2:21am)
  • Police issued a parking ticket for a handicap parking violation at Market Basket. Operator later provided a valid handicap placard, which they did not remember to put up. Police voiced the ticket. (9:49am)
  • Damage was done to a mailbox on Broad Street. Caller requested an officer to view the damage and for additional patrols. (11:02am)
  • A passerby found a syringe in the crosswalk at Federal Street and Woburn Street. Police located and retrieved needle for destruction. (1:58pm)
  • Police advised a man and his family that the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility on Cross Street was not open yet and sent them on their way. (4:16pm)
  • Water Department responded to a water main break on Shawsheen Avenue. (4:17pm)
  • Police received a report of a  gray 1997 Toyota Avalon were swerving up and down the street striking trash barrels. Vehicle was gone by the time police arrived. (7:31pm)  Police later found some of the involved parties behind Uncle Mickey’s.  Both juveniles’ parents were contacted for pickup. (9:52pm)
