Wilmington Nurse Pleads Guilty To Writing False Opioid Prescriptions

WOBURN, MA — Last week in Middlesex Superior Court, Marjorie Taylor, a 29-year-old registered nurse from Wilmington, pled guilty to 35 counts of uttering a false prescription for a controlled substance in connection with a scheme to fraudulently obtain prescription opioid medications.

According to Lowell Sun court reporter Lisa Redmond, Taylor received a sentence of three years probation, during which time she must seek substance abuse treatment.  Taylor was also banned from nursing.

According to the Middlesex District Attorney’s Office, Taylor used a physician’s prescription pad that did not belong to her to fill 35 forged prescriptions for thousands of painkillers — including oxycodone, hydrocodone, hydromorphane, and tramadol — from May 2015 to August 2015.

Taylor wrote the prescriptions in her name and in the names of her relatives. She filled the prescriptions in pharmacies in Wilmington, plus Burlington, Lowell, Reading, Stoneham, Tewksbury, and Woburn.

The case was investigated by the Wilmington Police Department, with assistance from the Massachusetts Insurance Fraud Bureau.
