WILMINGTON, MA — Last Friday night, recent Wildcat basketball great Connor Bennett (Class of 2015) was honored as the school’s fifth, and most recent, 1,000-point scorer.
Bennett’s name was officially added to the Wildcats 1,000 point scores banner hung in the gymnasium. He joins just four former players — Winston Fairfield (Class of 1958), Mike Lombard (Class of 1988), Eric Swiezynski (Class of 2001), and Ashely Vitale (Class of 2007) — in eclipsing the 1,000-point mark.
Bennett, now a sophomore playing on the UMass Lowell basketball team, was a 3-year varsity starter for the Wildcats and captain his senior year. He holds several school records — including rebounds in a game (26), points in a game (39), and points in a season (501). Bennett was a 2-time Middlesex League All-Star and a Boston Globe All-Scholastic.
