10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (January 17, 2017)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 10 things you need to know in Wilmington for Tuesday, January 17, 2017.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, Wilmington will see a slight chance of rain between 4pm and 5pm, then a chance of rain and snow. Increasing clouds, with a high near 40. Calm wind becoming east around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 30%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

#2) The Wilmington Board of Appeals meets at 7pm at Wilmington Town Hall (Room 9). Read the agenda HERE. The Fourth of July Committee’s special permit request to hold a carnival in the Town Common parking lot is on the agenda.

#3) The Wilmington Board of Library Trustees meets at 7pm in the Wilmington Library’s Banda Room. Read the agenda HERE.

#4) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) will be screening ‘The Girl on the Train’ from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. Learn more and register HERE.

#5) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is hosting its normal Tuesday activities:

  • Zumba (9am)
  • Computer Class (9am)
  • Aerobics (10:30am)
  • Wii Bowling (12:30pm)

  • 3:30pm – GIRLS Freshman Basketball vs Austin Preparatory School (at Wilmington Middle School)
  • 4:00pm – BOYS Freshman Basketball @ Shawsheen Tech
  • 4:15pm – GIRLS JV Basketball vs Austin Preparatory School (at Wilmington High)
  • 5:15pm – BOYS JV Basketball @ Shawsheen Tech
  • 6:00pm – GIRLS Varsity Basketball vs Austin Preparatory School (at Wilmington High)
  • 7:00pm – BOYS Varsity Basketball @ Shawsheen Tech

#7) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks (777 South Street, Tewksbury) holds bingo — open to the public — every Tuesday at 6:45pm. Doors open at 5pm. Pizza, hot dog and pastries are sold. Free coffee.

#8) Angels In Motion meets every Tuesday, from 9:30am to 2:30pm, at the Wilmington Knights of Columbus Hall (112 Middlesex Avenue).  The club provides a great opportunity for seniors to meet new friends or reacquaint with old ones.  Spend the day playing cards, board games, or just chatting with folks!  A luncheon is served as noon.  There are NO fees. The KofC Hall is handicap accessible.

#9) Red Heat Tavern is holding its weekly bar trivia (pub quiz) with Geeks Who Drink from 7pm to 9pm. Learn more HERE.
