WILMINGTON, MA — Below is a list of FREE upcoming programs for adults, teens and kids at the Wilmington Memorial Library.

Registration begins 30 days prior to the event. Please register online using our Calendar of Events at www.wilmlibrary.org or by calling (978) 694-2099 (for Adult) or (978) 694-2098 (for Children/Teen). Adult Events

Cookin’ the Books *RR
Tuesday, January 3, 12 pm

Featured Cookbook: The Food Lab by J. Kenji Lopez-Alt
If you love to cook and enjoy talking about food and sharing recipes then this group is for you.  Pick up a copy of the cookbook (or find a recipe from the book online) and email your recipe selection to leader Lisa Crispin (lcrispin@wilmlibrary.org). Bring your dish to the meeting and enjoy sampling everyone’s dishes!

Digitize It *RR
Wednesday, January 4, 7 pm
Were you looking at old photos or watching old home movies over the holidays? If so, come to the library to learn how you can digitize these items so that you’ll be able to enjoy them for years to come.

Hypnosis and EFT *RR
Thursday, January 5, 7 pm

Join Andrew Morris, Owner of a Better Life Hypnosis & Reiki for an exciting, informative and fun presentation on Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and Hypnosis. These techniques can be used for stress and pain reduction, smoking cessation, to improve memory and concentration, and more.  You will be invited to participate in group relaxation, meditation, EFT and hypnosis exercises.

Location: Golden Ginger, Wilmington
A social book group geared towards readers in their 20’s and 30’s.  The group meets on the first Thursday of every other month.  The book discussion will be hosted by librarians from the Wilmington and Reading Public Libraries.

If you love to write and seek feedback, then join our writing group. When registering, please provide your email address so you can receive an agenda and any prep materials in advance.  Open to all genres and levels. Led by local writing enthusiast, Barbara Alevras.

Networking and Volunteering *RR

There is a way to improve your job prospects and keep your skills sharp at the same time—volunteering. Non-profits need your professional skills to help them run the “business” side of their enterprise.  In turn, you can give back to the community, meet new people, and build relationships while keeping current.  Presenter Jack Wang is the Program Site Director for Jericho Road Project of Greater Lowell.

Snowman Scavenger Hunt
January 1-January 31
Snowmen are hiding all around the children’s room. Fine nine snowmen dressed up as book characters. Submit your entry for a chance to win a prize. 

Trivia Tuesdays *RR
Tuesday, January 3, 6:30 pm
Show us your smarts at pub-style trivia! Play against your parents and friends, putting your pop culture knowledge to the test. The winning team walks off with prizes (and bragging rights!). Snacks are provided. 

Kindergarten Book Club *RR
Wednesday, January 4, 3:45 pm
This book club is for kindergarteners who miss storytime or those who love to be read to.  We will read a book or two together, discuss it, and then do a fun activity.   

Books and Cookies *RR
Wednesdays, January 4, 11, 18, 25, 6:30 pm
Join us as we read The Miraculous Journey of Edward of Edward Tulane by Kate DiCamillo in this four week series. We’ll enjoy hot chocolate and cookies as we read the book together. If you need to miss a session, we will tell you the pages you should read while you’re gone. Each child will receive a complimentary copy of the book and a scented bookmark. Grades 1-3.

Read to Zoey, the Listening Labrador *RR
Thursday, January 5, 6:30-7:30 pm
Zoey is a great listener who loves to have kids of all ages read to her and improve their reading skills.  Zoey has been certified as a therapy dog by the Pets & People Foundation.  Please call 978-694-2098 to sign up for a 15-minute session.
