WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 5 things you need to know in Wilmington for Wednesday, December 28, 2016.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be mostly sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 38. Northwest wind 5 to 9 mph.
#2) The Tewksbury/Wilmington Elks is holding its annual children’s free throw contest (“Hoop Shot”) on Wednesday, December 28 at 6pm at the Wynn Middle School in Tewksbury (1 Griffin Way). Participants will take 25 free throws from an age-appropriate foul line. There will be six categories — Boys 8-9, Girls 8-9, Boys 10-11, Girls 10-11, Boys 12-13, and Girls 12-13. A participant’s age is based on how old they will be on April 1, 2017. Registration is free. A copy of each participant’s birth certificate is required at registration. Prizes will be given to first, second and third place winners in each category.
#3) Ristuccia Memorial Arena (190 Main Street) is having public skating during school vacation week (Monday-Friday) from noon to 2pm. $5 per person. Bring your own skates.
#4) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding THREE programs:
- Preschool Dance Party (10am)
- All You Can Read Buffett (1pm-5pm)
- Music and More with Bernadette Baird (6:30pm)

#5) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is holding its normal Wednesday activities:
- SBF Exercise (9:45am)
- Special Exercise (11am)
- Country Line Dancing (1pm)

PLUS: The Wilmington Police Department will NOT be offering safety seat installs at the Wilmington Public Safety Building (1 Adelaide Street) today. The program will be back next Wednesday.
