POLICE LOG for December 18: Garage Fire; Kids Asking For Money For Christmas Gifts

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are SIX highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Sunday, December 18, 2016:

  • A Lorin Avenue homeowner reported that during the night, someone turned on his hose spigot and his water has been running all night. Homeowner wanted the incident logged and a check of the area. Police checked property and found no footprints in the snow. (6:19am)
  • Police contacted Department of Public Buildings and Electric Light to fix lights at Lowell Street and West Street, which were stuck in a flashing mode. (10:47am)
  • A caller reported 2 kids, with their mother, were asking for money inside Radio Shack at the Plaza. When an employee asked the children what they were soliciting for, they claimed Christmas presents and ran out of the store, which led to a confrontation with their mother, who used expletives. The family got into a White Ford Focus and drove off onto Route 38. Police responded and was unable to locate the vehicle. (11:51am)
  • Zachary David Mayo (28, Jamaica Plain) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and not having a license in possession. (12:30pm)
  • Fire Department knocked down a fire in a garage on Federal Street. The home was evacuated and the roadway was temporarily closed. No injuries reported. (7:39pm)
  • Fire Department responded to a stove fire on Ballardvale Street. Tewksbury Fire assisted. (7:51pm)
