CAMBRIDGE, MA – Ryan Callinan, 29, from Wilmington, was arraigned Thursday in Somerville District Court and charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury and negligent operation of a motor vehicle in connection with a non-fatal hit-and-run collision with a bicyclist that occurred on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at approximately 7:49 p.m. at the intersection of Broadway and Portland Street in Cambridge.
Judge Maurice Flynn released the defendant on personal recognizance and ordered him not to commit any new offenses. The next date is January 26, 2016 for pre-trial conference.
Callinan, a Cambridge Police Officer, was off-duty and in his personal vehicle when he allegedly struck the bicyclist from behind before allegedly fleeing the scene. Following the collision, the victim, a 32 year old female, was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
