Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of December 4, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, December 4, 2016.

Sunday, December 4:

  • An Aldrich Road caller reported his cat was missing. Cat was black with a white chest, named “Zeus.” Caller eventually located cat. (12:43am)
  • Police pulled over the driver of a black 2004 Nissan Murano on Route 93 South after noting they were only traveling at 32 MPH. Police conducted a field sobriety test and operator checked OK. (2:34am)
  • Police found 2 Market Basket carriages located down the stairs of the bridge on Richmond Street. Police contacted Market Basket’s customer service desk. Police also noted a makeshift camp set up on the canal side of the bridge. (10:10am)
  • Police received a report of 5 male parties causing a disturbance inside the Dunkin Donuts on Concord Street. Police responded and parties fled on foot. Police arrested one of the individuals on outstanding warrants for receiving stolen property and vandalism. Arrestee was a 16 year-old juvenile. No other information provided. (12:25pm)
  • A Glen Road resident reported bank fraud. (1:34pm)
  • A Somerset Place resident reported credit card fraud. (2:01pm)
  • A gray 2007 Kia Sorento and a black 2014 Honda Civic were involved in a minor crash at Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street. (3:50pm)

Monday, December 5:

  • Police noted the refrigerator unit was tipped over by the Snack Shack at the Shawsheen School. Police notified DPW for clean-up. (1:41am)
  • A hit and run occurred in front of the Harnden Tavern on Salem Street. Second vehicle took a right onto Woburn Street and took off. (7:10am)
  • A red 1998 Audi SE struck a gas meter at Eiro Car Center on Andover Street. Police notified Fire Department and National Grid. Gas was shut off. No injuries noted. (8:09am)
  • An Appletree Lane caller reported a larceny of a package, valued at $30, from their front porch. (9:54am)
  • A Grant Street resident reported 2 unauthorized withdrawals from Citizens’ Bank. (10:21am)
  • A black 2006 Cadillac struck 2 parked cars in the parking lot of Elia’s Country Store. (12:20pm)
  • A caller reported a black Honda was tailgating her and beeping at her from the Woburn line to 99 Restaurant on Lowell Street. Caller pulled into 99 parking lot and other vehicle pulled in behind her. Caller then hung up on dispatch. Police responded to parking lot, but was unable to locate either vehicle. (12:26pm)
  • A vehicle struck a tree near the 93 South Exit 39 ramp. State Police to handle. (12:36pm)
  • A blue 2002 Dodge Intrepid and a brown 2008 Chevy Malibu were involved in a crash at the Lucci’s Supermarket Plaza. (12:46pm)
  • A Carter Lane caller reported an IRS scam call. (3:11pm)
  • A caller reported witnessing a dog getting struck by a blue Honda Pilot on Border Avenue. Vehicle did not stop. Caller could not see license plate. Caller believed dog was deceased. Dog described as small wearing a red collar with tags. Police notified Andover and Woburn Animal Control. Dog’s family was notified and family owner came to scene. No definitive details given on dog’s condition given. (3:16pm)
  • A black 2002 Nissan Sentra and a gray 2008 Honda Accord were involved in a minor crash near Jimmy’s Garage on Main Street. No injuries noted. (5:44pm)
  • A Chestnut Street caller reported his Christmas lights have been cut several times. (6:14pm)
  • Police received multiple calls that the lights are not cycling property on Burlington Avenue and Main Street. Police notified Mass Highway. (6:38pm)
  • A caller reported the bridge at Burlington Avenue and Main Street is covered in black ice. Police confirmed the presence of black ice and notified DPW. (9:39pm)
  • A blue 2012 BMW and a blue 2012 Acura MDX were involved in a crash near Ristuccia Memorial Arena. One juvenile passenger was injured and transported by the Fire Department. (10:23pm)

Tuesday, December 6:

  • A Dorchester Street caller reported a suspicious man walking around in the area taking pictures. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Man was a contractor. (10:02am)
  • A 4-vehicle crash occurred near Winchester Family Medical Center on Salem Street. No injuries noted. 3 of the 4 vehicles were towed. (1:22pm)
  •  A cell phone was found in the Town Hall’s parking lot. Police spoke with owner who retrieved the phone at the station. (2:10pm)
  • A walk-in party turned in an iPad he found. Police located owner, who retrieved the item at the station. (3:45pm)
  • A caller’s 2-year-old found a prescription pill (Tramadol) outside their Glendale Circle home. Caller requested school be notified due to the bus stop being right outside of her house. (4:43pm)
  • A black 2009 Honda Fit and a blue 2005 GMC Terrain were involved in a crash on the 93 South Exit 38 ramp. Airbag deployed. No injuries noted. State Police handled. (4:53pm)
  • A caller reported a man was out of his car and yelling at her because she was blocking his way on Butters Row. Police responded. No threats were made. Caller was able to reverse and both parties continued on their way. (5:01pm)
  • A black 2015 Jeep Cherokee and a black 2012 Chevy Cruze were involved in a crash at Church Street and Clark Street. No injuries noted. (5:54pm)
  • Fire Department responded to a fully involved car fire near the 93 North Exit 39 ramp. (7:56pm)

Wednesday, December 7:

  • A Chestnut Street caller reported traffic enforcement between 6am and 6:20am. He states every morning he has been passed by vehicles while traveling on Chestnut Street while going the speed limit. (6:22am)
  • Police assisted a driver with a motor vehicle lockout in the Savers parking lot. (12:54pm)
  • A Woburn Street caller reported a neighbor still has political signs displaying on their lawn. Police responded, but no one was home. Police will attempt to contact homeowner later. (1:47pm)
  • A Salem Street resident reported an unknown man was taking pictures of his neighbor’s house at 4:30am this morning. Party wanted the incident logged. (3:44pm)
  • Police responded to a large branch down in the roadway on Shawsheen Avenue. Police were able to remove from roadway. (5:06pm)
  • A 2-vehicle crash occurred, with the cars in the median on 93 North. Police assisted with the paperwork exchange. (5:15pm)
  • A vehicle struck a parked car in the MBTA parking lot on Main Street. Police assisted with the paperwork exchange. (6:09pm)
  • An Eastgate Liquors employee asked for an officer to standby while employees closed the store and exited. Employee noted there is two cars lingering in the parking lot for more than an hour. Police responded. (10:00pm)

Thursday, December 8:

  • Police noticed a woman vomiting in her vehicle parked at Sonny’s Mobile on the Run. Situation checked OK. Woman wasn’t feeling well. (1:48am)
  • A caller reported a suspicious white man with a brown coat, yellow vest and backpack looking in heir neighbor’s vehicle on Shawsheen Avenue. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Man was doing contract work for Reading Light in the area. (10:52am)
  • A Marcia Road caller reported seeing a coyote in the area.  Coyote did not appear injured or sick and just left the caller’s property. (11:13am)
  • Manager of the Shell Gas Station on Main Street reported a box truck has been in their lot since 7am unattended. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Driver was sleeping in vehicle. (1:57pm)
  • Police restored peace between a mother and daughter arguing in the MBTA parking lot on Main Street. (2:17pm)
  • A Nathan Road caller reported receiving two phone calls today from a man with an accent claiming to be from “Green America,” but he felt the call was a scam. (4:05pm)
  • A 3-vehicle crash occurred near the Lucci’s Supermarket Plaza on Lowell Street. No injuries noted. (8:02pm)
  • A caller reported an unmarked car with blue lights and two men in plain clothes on either side of a car with a female operator at Salem Street and Cunningham Street.  Police responded and situation checked OK. State Police were assisting a female driver with a disabled vehicle. AAA arrived on scene. (8:02pm)

Friday, December 9:

  • Hector Rivera (30, Woburn) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Rivera was pulled over at AL Prime on Main Street. His black 2012 Mitsubishi Lancer was towed. (12:52ma)
  • Police assisted State Police with a 3-vehicle crash on Route 125 Highway. No injuries reported. No vehicle towed. (8:09am)
  • Paul S. Hatch (45, Lynn) was arrested on Jewel Drive for 4 counts of distributing a Class B drug; 4 counts for conspiracy to violate drug laws; and 2 counts of possession of Class B drug. (9:24am)
  • A hit and run was reported between 11am and 11:30am. A North Reading Transportation bus backed into a gray 2011 Honda Accord and did not exchange information. (12:34pm)
  • Fire Department responded to the Market Basket plaza after a gray 2011 Subaru Tribeca struck a pedestrian. (2:46pm)
  • A blue 2002 Saab Linear struck a tree on Burlington Avenue. No injuries noted. Vehicle towed. (8:42pm)
  • A coyote was found in the middle of Cunningham Street, possibly struck by a vehicle. Coyote was euthanized. (11:09pm)

Saturday, December 10:

  • A caller on Cunningham Street reported a dog has been barking for approximately an hour. Police located dog on Salem Street. Police spoke with dog’s owner, who agreed to take the dog in for the night. (2:33am)
  • A Nathan Road caller reported a tan sedan was operating last night at around 11:30pm without headlights. Caller stated the vehicle was circling the area. Caller was advsied the incident would be logged and to call back next time the vehicle is seen. (8:49am)
  • A road rage incident occurred on Hobson Avenue with a caller reporting she was backing out of a driveway and a vehicle pulled up behind her and beeped at her and yelled expletives. Police spoke with the caller, who was advised of her options and decided to let it go. (1:59pm)
  • A Salvation Army employee reported an argument in the parking lot between customers regarding a parking spot. Both parties left before police arrived. (3:18pm)
  • A woman reported she lost her wallet in the area of Market Basket.  She stated there has been charges made to her credit card. (3:28pm)
  • A party reported the dogs above her apartment are barking all day and night, clawing on the floor, causing a disturbance. This is an ongoing issue. Animal Control Officer was notified. (5:22pm)
