Wilmington Educational Foundation Awards Grant To West Music Teacher Robyn Barry

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington Educational Foundation (WEF) recently awarded Robyn Barry, Music Teacher at the West Intermediate School, with a grant to purchase a subscription to Noteflight Learn, a music composition website.

“This website allows a safe space for students to write their own music, work on assignments, and hear their own work,” explains Barry.  “Students can now print out professional looking scores of their own music rather than just using pencil and paper.”

Each of Barry’s 4th grade students have their own Noteflight accounts, allowing them to write an infinite amount of music, whether for a class assignment in school or “for fun” at home.

“This grant has been very beneficial to my students,” says a grateful Barry.  “Thank you to the Wilmington Educational Foundation for proving my classes with this wonderful opportunity. Access to this website has given them a creative outlet and the opportunity to write their own music in a professional format.”

Barry’s grant was one of 15 different grants that were awarded to Wilmington teachers by WEF during its most recent round of grant funding.

Established in 1999, WEF is a non-profit organization committed to supporting innovation and excellence in the Wilmington public school system.
