STONEHAM, MA — Stoneham Theatre is celebrating the holidays with the Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Mame, directed and choreographed by Elliot Norton and IRNE Award-winner Ilyse Robbins.
Featuring song favorites “Bosom Buddies” and “If He Walked Into My Life,” Mame is an unforgettable classic centers on the eccentric Mame Dennis, who lives a carefree life in 1920s New York until she unexpectedly becomes the guardian to her 10-year-old nephew, Patrick. Rather than change her ways, Mame introduces Patrick to all the wonder of her wild bohemian world while discovering the joy of having a family of her own.
In addition to stars Kathy St. George and Mary Callanan, the Mame cast includes Wilmington’s Isabelle Richards.
Richards, a Wilmington High School senior, is thrilled to be working with such a talented and accomplished cast. She has appeared in productions with various local theater groups: Merrimack College’s OnStagers, Pentucket Players, Acting Out!, Wakefield Repertory Theatre and Colonial Chorus Players. Some of her favorite roles: Minnie Fay (“Hello Dolly!”), Christmas Eve (“Avenue Q”), and Little Sally (“Urinetown”). She also performs with Voices of Hope, an organization of local performers who donate their time and talent to raise awareness and funds for cancer research.
Richards also performs with the Wilmington High School a cappella group Soundscape, and the High School theater group, Lamplighters. She also volunteers at the Buzzell Senior Center after school.
Performances run from Friday, November 25 through Friday, December 23.
Tickets cost $50-$55 for Adults; $45-50 for Seniors; and $20 for Students (with valid ID). Thrifty Thursday tickets cost $15 at the door. For more information or to purchase tickets, call Stoneham Theatre’s Box Office at (781) 279-2200 or visit http://www.stonehamtheatre.org.
