WILMINGTON, MA — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, November 13, 2016.
Sunday, November 13:
- A caller reported she struck a cat on Pinewood Road. Cat’s owner was notified and retrieved the pet. (11:01am)
- Police responded to a group of disruptive juveniles in the parking lot of Lorraine Spada School of Dance on Main Street. The juveniles were advised not to return and dispersed. (1:54pm)
- A caller reported her 12 year-old son was bullied at the skate park at the Shawsheen by older kids on bikes. Caller does not wish for a police response, but wanted the incident logged and requested extra patrols of the skate park. (3:38pm)
- Police received report of youths at the skate park lighting a fire in a trash barrel. Police responded and fire was already out upon arrival. Youths denied any involvement. (4:22pm)
- Police received multiple calls over railroad arms partially down near Elia’s Country Store on Middlesex Avenue. Police contacted Keolis, which responded and repaired the arms. (6:33pm)
- An Allen Park Drive resident reported her dog was barking at something in her yard. She requested a cruiser drive by. Police conducted a check of the yard, which was clear. (8:45pm)
- A Hopkins Street caller reported a scam on Cragislist. (10:12pm)
Monday, November 14:
- Police responded to a low hanging wire touching a school bus on Brand Avenue. Police notified the Shawsheen School that the bus may be late. The Fire Department cut the wire. Comcast was notified. (8:20am)
- Police notified DPW that pieces of a car — tire, rim and part of a front end — were stuck underneath a guardrail on Chestnut Street and needed to be removed. (1:09pm)
- A caller reported her sister has been missing for 3 months and used to work for a hair salon in Wilmington. All provided contact information for the sister was invalid. Police took a report. (1:17pm)
- Animal Control Officer responded to complaint that a pitbull on Lords Court was constantly loose and aggressive towards people. (2:11pm)
- A caller reported her parked 2015 Chevy Colorado was struck while inside Market Basket. The other driver left the scene without providing any information. (3:45pm)
- A Wilton Drive caller reported that his credit card receipts were stolen yesterday out of his garage. (6:16pm)
- An Old Ballardvale Street resident reported his back slider door was open upon his arrival and requested an officer check house with him. Police completed a walk through and everything checked OK. (9:42pm)
Tuesday, November 15:
- Jerry M. Bourque (31, Billerica) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license and no inspection sticker. Bourque was pulled over on Salem Street. (10:15am)
- A Grove Avenue resident requested extra patrols during morning bus stop hours (6am-6:30am and 8am-8:30am) due to speeding cars in the area. (10:16am)
- A caller reported an alleged hit & run on 95 North. Vehicles stopped on Salem Street, near the Town Museum. Police assisted with paperwork exchange. (2:29pm)
- A red 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee struck a pedestrian on Woburn Street, near Analog Devices. Police issued a citation for failure to yield to pedestrian in a crosswalk. No injuries noted . (6:32pm)
- Police restored the peace after a large group of juveniles was reportedly fighting in the middle of St. Paul Street. (10:32pm)
Wednesday, November 16:
- A black 2016 GMC Terrain and a green 2002 Jeep Liberty were involved in a minor crash at Glen Road and Faulkner Avenue. No injuries noted. (7:07am)
- The Wilmington Police Department installed 3 car seats at the Public Safety Building during their weekly drop-in hours for parents. The Wilmington Animal Control Officer inspected three barns around town throughout the morning.
- Animal Control Officer responded to a report of an injured bird at the High School. Officer transported the bird to a vet or animal hospital in Andover. (11:26am)
- A Faulkner Avenue resident requested extra patrols in the area due to spending. (3:29pm)
- Police received a call from a motorist in North Reading who struck a deer. Caller stated he was not injured and was safely on the side of the road on Lowell Street in North Reading. Police notified North Reading Police, who responded. (6:11pm)
- An Arlene Avenue resident reported an identity fraud. (6:30pm)
- A teen was reported missing from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (8:05pm)
Thursday, November 17:
- A landscaping company found a hypodermic needle near Reading Cooperative Bank on Middlesex Avenue. Police retrieved the needle for destruction. (9:26am)
- A gray 2002 Saturn SE L200 and a black 2014 Subaru Legacy were involved in a crash on Main Street. No injuries noted. (10:40am)
- A caller reported she lost a diaper bag, with baby supplies, in the area of the library. She believed she drove off forgetting the bag was placed on the roof of her car. (11:37am)
- A walk-in party reported being harassed by a co-worker at Jimmy’s Garage on Main Street. (2:02pm)
- A party reported he believes an individual is living in the woods on the “aqueduct trail” near Butters R ow. Police headed into the woods on Meadowbrook and locate an empty tent. (3:30pm)
- A caller reported hearing noise in her residence. Police responded. Situation checked OK. The caller’s parents unexpectedly arrived back home early from an out-of-state trip. (11:14pm)
Friday, November 18:
- A white 2015 Hyundai Accent struck a pole on Nichols Street. Police notified RMLD. Wilmington Police requested Tewksbury Police to help with traffic control. Police notified the State Police’s reconstruction team. Police notified Verizon. Vehicle did damage to the mailboxes and yards at 108 and 110 Nichols Street. Nichols Street was closed at both ends of Fairmeadow. Police notified North Reading Transportation of the detour and that school buses will need to use alternate route. Several streets in the area lost power for several hours. Paige Small, of Tewksbury, was issued a summons for an OUI. (2:13am)
- A caller reported seeing a coyote on Cross Street. (11:10am)
- Police received a 911 hangup. On call back, police spoke with a nurse who stated a man swallowed a very small amount of lead from a pencil. Nurse said it wasn’t an emergency and would call back if an ambulance is needed. (12:31pm)
- A gray 2015 Subaru Legacy and a gray 2003 Toyota Camry were involved in a crash in front of the Fourth of July Building on Middlesex Avenue. (2:14pm)
- 3 hypodermic needles were found on the walking path near Gloria Way and dropped off at the station for destruction. (2:28pm)
- A 4-vehicle crash occurred at Balladrvale Street and Route 125. A black 1999 Ford Mustang was issued a citation for defective equipment (bald tires), expired inspection sticker, speed, and failure to use care while stopping. (4:57pm)
- Lincoln, Nebraska police officer requested Wilmington police make contact with a resident after he made threats to Verizon call center employees. Police investigated. Homeowner did not know the individual allegedly making the calls. (5:37pm)
- A Lucaya Circle resident reported a credit card scam. (8:21pm)
Saturday, November 19:
- A Wilton Drive caller reported he heard what he believed to be gunshots in the neighborhood. Police found no audible proof of gunshots. (1:18am) The man later reported people were shooting behind his neighbor’s house. (12:04pm)
- A dog was struck by a vehicle near Country Chef on Main Street. Dog was brown with a red collar, with an apparent leg injury. By the time police arrived, the dog was gone from the area. (9:46am)
- An employee at Citizens Bank on Main Street reported around 10:30am, a male customer was upset about not being able to access one of his accounts and damaged the front door on his way out. (11:53am)
- A Redwood Terrace resident reported her package was stolen from her front porch. Resident later informed police that the package was mistakenly delivered to a neighbor’s house and was then given to her. No theft occurred. (4:26pm)
- A white Crown Victoria and a white 2001 Dodge Ram were involved in a crash at Adelaide Street and Church Street. The Victoria left the scene. Police issued a BOLO for an older model Ford Crown Victoria with front end damage. A large amount of debris was in the roadway. Police notified DPW for clean-up. Police were unable to locate vehicle. (11:17pm)
