Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of November 6, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, November 6, 2016.

Sunday, November 6:

  • A caller reported smelling an odor of marijuana coming from a downstairs apartment at Metro at Wilmington Station. Police completed a walk around the area and could not detect an odor. (12:28am)  Police later checked on a vehicle in the parking lot with 2 people inside. Police transported juveniles to the station to arrange rides due to a junior operator license violation.(12:44am)
  • A passerby heading north on Main Street reported seeing a possible a possible bon fire by Silver Lake. Caller wasn’t sure if it was on the beach or in a yard near the beach. Police responded and situation checked OK. Gathering was in a yard on Pond Street. (12:55am)
  • An Aldrich Road caller reported damage to his property caused by a vehicle that occurred sometime overnight. (7:20am)
  • Police noted the east side traffic light post at the intersection of Middlesex Avenue and Federal Street has been turned. Police notified Public Buildings. (9:15am)
  • An Adams Street resident notified police about vehicles parked in no-parking zones on her street. Police received additional report of cars blocking a resident’s driveway. (10:56am)  Police later issued a citation for parking within 20 feet of an intersection at Church Street and Adams Street. (11:20am)
  • A Pouliot Place caller reported her 3 year-old son was in her yard and is now missing.  While on the phone, he was located hiding in the yard. (1:35pm)
  • A gray 2003 Ford Focus struck a guardrail on Chestnut Street. No injuries noted. Vehicle towed. (2:23pm)
  • A Clorinda Road caller reported a lost pug puppy was at her residence. Animal Control Officer was notified. Dog was eventually reunited with its owner. (3:45pm
  • A passerby reported 2 male parties on the bridge over Lowell Street and 93 South. Parties checked OK.  Both were photographers who were leaving. (8:13pm)

Monday, November 7:

  • An attempted break-in was reported at AJ’s Kitchen on Lowell Street. Police responded to find the rear door partially pried open. A K9 search ensued. No further information provided. (3:18am)
  • A caller reported a breaking & entering occurred at Keohan Fuels on Main Street sometime overnight. Police responded. (5:24am)
  • A Carter Lane caller reported a phone was purchased fraudulently in their name from Verizon Wireless. (12:08pm)
  • A Presidential Drive caller reported someone tried to obtain a small business loan from Bank of America in their name. Bank notified caller. Caller wanted the incident logged. (2:16pm)
  • A caller reported she witnessed a man drinking an alcoholic beverage in the driver’s seat of a gray Hyundai at Eastern Bank. Police located the vehicle at the owner’s home. Man checked OK and was advised of the complaint. (2:20pm)
  • A Chestnut Street caller reported an injured deer in her driveway. (6:25pm)
  • Janice A. Donovan (59, Wilmington) was placed in protective custody. Police responded to reports of an intoxicated woman causing a disturbance. (7:27pm)

Tuesday, November 8:

  • A green 2005 Hyundai Sonata and a gray 2014 Honda Accord were involved in a crash at Lowell Street and the 93 South ramp. Police & Fire responded. No injuries noted. Both vehicles towed. (7:31am)
  • A walk-in party reported an ongoing issue with what he believes are gun shots on Cottonwood Circle between 1am and 4am. Police advised him to contact the station when it happens so a cruiser can check the area. (2:05pm)
  • A caller reported several older males were in the Shawsheen Skate Park offering young children drugs. Caller then stated the older males were leaving the area, in the an unknown direction, on 2 scooters and 1 bike. One male was in a black/orange shorts and a blue baseball hat. Another had a black sweatshirt. Police responded. Children using skate park said they were asked it they wanted to get high, but nothing was shown or offered to them. Police checked the area but were unable to locate the males in question. (2:31pm)
  • A laptop was reported stolen from a black 2007 Honda Accord parked in an Aldrich Road driveway. (5:06pm)
  • A caller reported a man loitering in front of the Woburn St. School with a backpack and camping light. Police checked the school and surrounding areas.  The man was not located. (7:51pm)

Wednesday, November 9:

  • Police observed suspicious activity inside Peter’s Pizza & Roast Beef on Lowell Street. Police investigated. Owner was inside the building. He stayed late to watch election coverage. (2:02am)
  • A caller reported he lost his wallet sometime around 2:00pm yesterday in the Market Basket parking lot. (7:08am)
  • A Woburn Street School employee reported a vehicle parked on school property for two hours. Employee saw a young male get out of the vehicle and head towards the pedestrian way. Police located young male a friend’s house, where there was no parking spaces available. Male agreed to move his car. (1:15pm)
  • A caller reported a FedEx truck clipped a railroad gate on Salem Street, moved it to the side of the road, and continued on their way. Police notified MBTA. Police were unable to locate FedEx truck. (2:52pm)
  • A blue 2005 Dodge Caravan and a white 2005 Nissan Armada were involved in a crash at Nichols Street and Shawsheen Avenue. Vehicle was towed. (5:22pm)
  • Elizabeth M. DeOliveira (62, Framingham) was issued a summons for Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Revoked License; Driving an Uninsured Motor Vehicle; and Speeding. DeOliveria was pulled over at Lowell Street and Commonwealth Avenue. (8:09pm)
  • Michael R. Perry (27, Tewksbury) was arrested on an outstanding warrant. Perry was arrested at Town Beach. (8:19pm)

Thursday, November 10:

  • Jose O. Hernandez (24, Lowell) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. Hernandez was pulled over on Main Street. (1:46am)
  • Police assisted with a School Safety Drill at the Boutwell Early Childhood Center. (8:43am)
  • A gray 2011 Acura TL and a brown 2016 Honda CRV were involved in a crash at Route 125 and Ballardvale Street. No injuries noted. Both vehicles towed. (9:22am)
  • Police assisted with a School Safety Drill at the Shawsheen Elementary School. (9:51am)
  • A gray 2014 Toyota Camry and a blue 2011 Toyota Prius were involved in a crash on Middlesex Avenue. No injuries noted. Both vehicles towed. (4:39pm)
  • Lisa M. Nocco (52, Tewksbury)was arrested for OUI Liquor (2nd Offense), Negligent Operation of Motor Vehicle, and Failure to Yield at an Intersection. Nocco was involved in a 2-vehicle crash at Grove Avenue and Winchell Road. (6:15pm)

Friday, November 11:

  • Police was out with a man carrying a duffle bag on the front lawn of a King St. home. The man stated he was dating a resident at the address, but was unsure of her last name. An Uber arrived to take him home. (2:21am)
  • A vehicle struck a concrete trash barrel in the parking lot of the Dunkin Donuts on Middlesex Avenue and kept driving. Police issued a summons to Mark W. Peach (38, Burlington) for leaving the scene of property damage. (6:35am)
  • The owner of a gray 2016 Dodge Caravan reported their car was struck with some rocks. Police responded and observed some dings in the vehicle. (6:43am)
  • Police assisted the Fire Department with a brush fire near the Senior Center. (9:57am)
  • The Water Department requested an officer with a camera to document illegal dumping. (10:00am)
  • A Salem Street resident reported someone keeps throwing items at her home. She noticed today that a pane on her front window was broken overnight. (1:34pm)
  • A woman in the McDonald’s drive-thru refused to leave after drooping her credit card in a donation box. Police assisted in making arrangements with McDonald’s management to retrieve the card tomorrow at 8am. (5:24pm)

Saturday, November 12:

  • Matthew E. Wetmore (24, North Chelmsford) was arrested for OUI Liquor and Marked Lanes Violation. A caller had reported an erratic operator on 93 North after Exit 40.   State Police requested Wilmington Police handle.  (1:59am)
  • Police noted the wooden guard rail by the monument on Glen Road was struck by a vehicle. Police notified DPW. (3:21am)
  • A Chandler Road caller reported someone through a rock at his front window overnight, ripping the screen and breaking the outside pan. Police confirmed damage. (8:11am)
  • Police responded to a request of security at Shriners Auditorium, which was holding a Gun Show. Security asked a man in the parking lot to leave the premises due to suspicion of him talking about private ammunition sales. Police found the report unfounded, but the man did comply and left without incident. (10:42am)
  • A caller reported a green Subaru pulled out of Cumberland Farms on Main Street, with the front passenger having an unrestrained infant on their lap. Police were unable to locate the vehicle. (2:39pm)
  • Police restored the peace after a road rage incident in the Target parking lot. (3:22pm)
