15 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (November 19)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 15 things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, November 19, 2016.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be mostly sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 58. North wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the afternoon.

#2) Greenberg’s Train & Toy Show stops at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) in Wilmington on Saturday, November 19, 10am-4pm, and Sunday, November 20, 10am-4pm.  The event touts 90+ exhibitors from across the country; 400+ tables of trains for sale; huge operating model train displays; trains kids can operate; trains kids can ride; free workshops and demonstrations; and free door prize giveaways. #3) The Aleppo Shriners will be holding its Festival of Trees on Friday, November 18 (4pm to 8pm); Saturday, November 19 (9am to 8pm); and Sunday, November 20 (9am to 6pm) at the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road). This new event features a large number of beautiful trees with lots of presents to raffle.  The event also features Pictures with Santa, Duck Fishing for Kids, a Wine Pull, a Raffle Room, and live music. Admission costs just 50 cents.  Proceeds from the event will benefit the Aleppo Shriners General Fund. #4) The Wilmington Congregational Church (200 Middlesex Avenue) is holding its Fall Fair from 9am to 2pm. Come and enjoy the fair with a wide variety of selections, including: holiday crafts; the Church Luncheon Café (hot dogs, nachos, homemade chili, corn chowder); the Country Kitchen (famous baked beans); homemade baked goodies, used book table, White Elephant room, silent auctions, jewelry items, and children’s games!

#5)  The St. Thomas Women’s Club Annual Craft Fair will be held on Saturday, November 19, from 10am to 3pm, at Villanova Hall.  In addition to crafts, gifts, raffles and food, advent wreaths and nativity sets will be sold for only $10 each and will benefit the Faith Formation Program. Please stop by and show your support and get a jump on your Christmas shopping!

#6) Shawsheen Valley Technical High School is hosting its 9th Annual Fall Fair from 9am to 3pm.  With more than 100 tables, there is certainly something for everyone! Back for its second year is an area especially designed for children-the kids zone-so bring them along for face-painting, manicures, balloon art, pictures with Santa Claus and MORE! Learn more HERE.

#7) The Deming Way Tenants are holding a Fall Fair from 9am to 2pm at Deming Way, featuring baked goods, handcrafted items, white elephants, and a raffle.

#8) The Wilmington High School Marching Band is holding its Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive from 9am to 3pm. Students will be collecting non-perishable food donations from shoppers at Market Basket (260 Main Street) and Lucci’s Supermarket (211 Lowell Street). Look for them outside the stores’ entrances and exits.

#9) The Catholic Community of Wilmington and South Tewksbury’s Charities Committee is conducting a Thanksgiving Food Drive this weekend to help families in need within the St. Thomas and St. Dorothy’s parishes, as well as the Wilmington and Tewksbury Food Pantries. Donations can be left inside the entrances of both St. Thomas and St. Dorothy’s on Saturday, November 19 and Sunday, November 20. Learn more HERE.

#10) “Mr. Rock & Roll” Jimmy Merrick and his band, The Jesters, will play your favorite oldies and classic rock songs at the Wilmington KofC Hall (126 Middlesex Avenue). Doors open at 7pm. Concert begins at 8pm and ends at midnight. The concert will feature oldies rock & roll and classic country tunes. Pizza, coffee and pastries will be served. Cash bar. Bring your own snacks. #11) Pacific Grove (211 Lowell Street) is hosting Karaoke from Winnell Entertainment at 8pm.
