Wilmington’s Chenhtu Named Adams Scholar

MALDEN, MA — Eighty-nine percent of students in Mystic Valley Regional Charter School’s Class of 2017 scored “advanced” or “proficient” on all three high school MCAS tests. As a result, Mystic Valley administrators recently learned the school is graduating 38 John and Abigail Adams scholars in 2017, including Justin Chenhtu, of Wilmington.

Over the last two years, half of the school’s graduating seniors have won this award, which entitles the graduate to four years of tuition-free attendance at any Massachusetts state college or university.

Over the last five years, 99 percent of Mystic Valley’s graduating seniors have been accepted to college.

“I am very proud of the success this year’s seniors have achieved through their hard work over many years,” Mystic Valley’s Director Martin Trice said. “Our rate of Adams scholarship recipients is extraordinary and is but one of many evidences of Mystic Valley’s student accomplishments.”
