WILMINGTON, MA — At last week’s Veterans Day Ceremony, Veterans Agent Lou Cimaglia announced that Meredith Cipriani, the daughter of recently retired Recreation Director Debbie Cipriani, paid for the creation of four special parking spots in Wilmington.

Cipriani’s donation will create one parking spot designated for Purple Heart Recipients at the Wilmington Town Hall, Silver Lake, and Wilmington Veterans Office, as well as a “Veterans Only” parking spot at the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility.

Below is the new parking spot at Wilmington Town Hall:

The donation comes as Wilmington is being officially designated a “Purple Heart Community” at tonight’s Board of Selectmen Meeting.   The Purple Heart is awarded to members of the US armed forces wounded or killed in action.  The proclamation shows Wilmington’s intent to honor and help its Purple Heart recipients and their families.

In addition to these new parking spots, Wilmington also now flies a “Purple Heart” flag, beneath the American flag and POW/MIA flag, on the flag pole at Town Common.
