Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of October 23, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, October 23, 2016.

Sunday, October 23:

Monday, October 24:

  • Police received report of wires down on Jacquith Road. Police responded and moved wires to side of road. Police notified Verizon. (8:23am)
  • Riley Keogan (19, Wilmington) was arrested on a warrant for possession of a Class B substance. Keogan was pulled over in front of Chili’s on Main Street. (8:57am)
  • Luciano B. Da-Cruz (29, Leominster) was issued a summons for the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and following too closely on a state highway. Da-Cruz was involved in a minor 2-vehicle accident in front of Bryant Glass on Main Street. (10:59am)
  • An employee at the West Intermediate reported a fox was approximately 5 feet from the parking lot. (12:01pm)
  • A Sonny’s Mobile on the Run employee reported a skunk was under a storage shed. Skunk was eventually removed. (1:42pm)
  • A driver reported she was trying to get out of the way of an SUV coming over the bridge near Nannies Day Care on Main Street and struck the guard rail. (4:47pm)
  • Police notified DPW that the street sign for Houghton Road at Kendall Street was missing. (8:13pm)

Tuesday, October 25:

  • A daughter reported her mother was missing from Deming Way. Mother was eventually located. The Ride picked her up and drove her to Dorchester due to miscommunication. (8:47am)
  • Leandro A. Baez-Pena (41, Stoughton) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and having an uninsured motor vehicle. (10:55am)
  • Polie attempted to obtain footage at Dunkin Donuts on Concord Street in regards to a larceny of an iPhone that was stolen there earlier in the morning. Police will return in an hour once general manager is on scene. (1:00pm)
  • A Horseshoe Lane resident reported a package was delivered to their home on October 6 at approximately 2pm and stolen. (1:32pm)
  • Police located an abandoned vehicle in the Shriners parking lot with stolen plates. Vehicle was involved in a failure to stop for a state trooper earlier in the month.  State Police responded to scene. (3:23pm)
  • A Cunningham Street resident reported a door-to-door solicitor from Clear Choice. Police responded and advised solicitors to check in with the station prior to going door-to-door. (4:25pm)
  • A Shawsheen Avenue resident reported his home was shot with a paintball gun. Neighbor’s home was also struck. Vandalism may have happened Sunday night. (5:50pm)
  • Milestone Group Home on High Street reported a missing juvenile male. (6:16pm)
  • A father reported her daughter struck a deer at Salem Street and Woburn Street. Deer was gone upon arrival.  Driver was not injured. Damage was reported to the vehicle’s front end. (8:40pm)

Wednesday, October 26:

  • Ryan C. O’Rourke (23, Wilmington) was taken into protective custody. Fire Department transported him to Winchester Hospital. (1:18am)
  • Police assisted driver was a lockout in the Lubrizol Advanced Materials parking lot on Lowell Street. (7:26am)
  • A 6-wheel dump truck with a trailer towing a Bobcat broke down at Main Street and Eames Street. Vehicle was towed. (8:05am)
  • Police conducted a school bus evacuation drill at the Wildwood School. (9:03am)
  • Another dump truck broke down in front of Elia’s Country Store on Middlesex Avenue. Vehicle was towed. (12:15pm)
  • The Registry of Motor Vehicles on Middlesex Avenue reported an irate customer. (1:49pm)
  • Milestone Group Home on High Street reported an out-of-control client. (2:04pm)
  • A contractor on Grove Avenue wished to have a well-being check on a man across the street who appeared to be stumbling and falling. Police spoke with the resident, who said he was not feeling well, but did not need any assistance. (3:35pm)
  • A passerby reported a large Halloween decorating in the middle of the road on Chestnut Street. Police recovered the item. (5:39pm)

Thursday, October 27:

  • A dog was struck by a vehicle on Roosevelt Road. Police notified the Animal Control Officer. Owners brought the dog, with unspecified injuries, to Best Pets in Tewksbury. (8:54am)
  • Police conducted a bus evacuation drill at the West Intermediate School. (8:57am)
  • A Carmel Street resident reported a coyote in her backyard. Animal was gone by the time the Animal Control Officer arrived. (9:49am)
  • A black 2014 Ford E350 and a White 2012 Dodge Ram were involved in a crash in front of the Harnden Tavern on Salem Street. No injuries noted. Both vehicles t owed. (2:34pm)
  • A gray 2014 Toyota Scion and a black 2016 Chevy Equinox were involved in a crash at Nichols Street and Flagstaff Road. Unspecified injuries. Both vehicles towed. DPW notified of large amount of leaked fluid in the roadway. (3:50pm)
  • A hit and run occurred on 93 South.  Caller followed perpetrator into Dunkin Donuts parking lot on Concord Street.  State police to handle. (6:30pm)
  • A small amount of a Class D was confiscated from an individual in the Market Basket parking lot. (8:12pm)

Friday, October 28:

  • Police out with a vehicle on Fordham Road.  Parties were having car troubles on their way to Vermont. (12:44am)
  • Police assisted a driver with a motor vehicle lockout at Nichols Funeral Home. (11:06am)
  • Police notified DPW of a tree fallen on a sidewalk near Metro at Wilmington Station on Burlington Avenue. (12:52pm)
  • A light grey pit bull was reported lose on Cunningham Street. Animal Control Officer could not located the dog. (1:04pm)
  • Richard Ramos-Rivera (25, Lawrence) was arrested for Distributing a Class B Drug and 3 charges of Conspiracy To Violate Drug Law. Jonathan Velazquez-Velez (29, Lawrence) arrested for 3 charges of Distributing a Class B Drug and 3 charges of Conspiracy To Violate Drug Law. Both men were arrested on Woburn Street in a gray 2015 Lexus SE. (1:46pm)
  • Police assisted a driver with a motor vehicle lockout at the Widwood Cemetery. (2:02pm)
  • Police issued a citation for failure to stop for a school bus and operating within 100 feet of a school bus at Woburn Street and Eames Street. (3:00pm)
  • Police issued a citation for failure to yield for a pedestrian at a crosswalk on Church Street. (6:37pm)
  • A caller reported a man was acting strangely inside CVS, asking people for money. Police responded. Man was trying to find his way to Reading. Police sent him on his way. (10:51pm)

Saturday, October 29:

  • An Aldrich Road caller reported their mailbox was vandalized overnight. Police believe someone struck it with a pumpkin. (8:24am)
  • A caller reported the grass area at the old Swain School location appears to have been ripped up by a vehicle sometime during the night. Police responded and observed tire marks across the Town Common and old Swain School area. Police took photos of the damage. (9:28am)
  • Police assisted with parking at Town Hall due to early voting and a football clinic. (10:10am)
  • Police issued a summons to Jose Ortiz (43, Haverhill) was the unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and speeding. Ortiz was pulled over on Eames Street. Vehicle was towed. (3:03pm)
  • Police received report of a turkey struck by a vehicle on Burlington Avenue. Police checked the area and could not locate the turkey. (4:26pm)
  • Individual flagged down a police officer, who reported he was invlved in a hit and run while parked in the Market Basket parking lot. (5:50pm)
  • Michelleynn M. Regan (51, Woburn) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a revoked registration and having an uninsured motor vehicle. Regan was pulled over near the Route 38 Smoke Shop on Main Street. (9:02pm)
  • Police received three calls regarding a group of teens in the area of Oakdale Road speeding, throwing bottles and possibly fighting.  Police responded. Witness reported teens were running behind her house and appeared intoxicated.  All teens left the area on foot.  (9:32pm)
