KELLY STRONG: Fundraiser For Wilmington 11 Year-Old After Brain Tumor Diagnosis

WILMINGTON, MA — Wilmington’s Kelly Gonzalez sounds like an ordinary 11 year-old girl. She enjoys gymnastics, shopping at the mall, hanging out with friends, and spending time with her dog.  But Kelly is suddenly facing a challenge that few children her age confront while displaying an incredible amount of courage and fight.

On October 21, Kelly was unexpectedly diagnosed with medulloblastoma, a fast-growing tumor on her brain.  Three days later, she underwent a successful 10-hour surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital. Kelly will soon begin chemotherapy and radiation.

To help lessen the financial burden on Kelly’s family, a GoFundMe page was recently created.  Over the campaign’s first 8 days, 500 people have donated more than $56,000.  Additional donations are greatly appreciated.  Donate to the online campaign HERE.

Wilmington residents can also rally around Kelly and her family by eating out at Uno Pizzeria & Grill at the Woburn Mall (300 Mishawum Road) on Thursday, November 10, from 11:30am to 11:30pm.  The restaurant will donate 20% of its proceeds (including dine-in, takeout and catering) to the Kelly’s family on that day.  Just tell your server you’re there for Kelly!
