WHS VOLLEYBALL: Wildcats Drop Final Match Of Season, Finish 7-13

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Varsity Volleyball team (7-13) dropped 3 straight sets on the road against Woburn on Friday, October 28.  This is the team’s final match of the season.

  • Set 1: Wilmington – 16, Woburn – 25
  • Set 2: Wilmington – 16, Woburn – 25
  • Set 3: Wilmington – 23, Woburn  – 25

Wildcat stat leaders included:

  • Sabrina Doyle , who served 100% on ten serves, and had three kills.
  • Morgan Bresnahan, who had a team-leading 8 kills.
  • Caroline Andersen, who contributed 3 kills, while Abygail Shedd contributed to 2 kills.
  • Christina Woods and Emily Field, who both did great in serve receive and defensive passing.

“In the middle of the season, I was concerned with the way that Wilmington was playing because they seemed to lack the mental toughness required to work through mistakes and come back,” said Head Coach Bruce Shainwald.  “In the last two matches, the team showed that it is developing the kind of determination and toughness required to compete and win.”

Shainwald, in his first year as coach, is already optimistic for Year #2.

“With a 7-13 record, we were not able to win enough matches to earn a spot in the postseason, but the team continued to improve right through the final match,” he said. “This will give us something to build on for next season.”
