10 Things You Need To Know In Wilmington Today (October 31)

WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 10 things you need to know in Wilmington for Monday, October 31, 2016.

#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be sunny in Wilmington, with a high near 50. Light northwest wind increasing to 6 to 11 mph in the morning. Winds could gust as high as 25 mph.  At night, it will be mostly clear, with a low around 27. Light north wind.

#2) REMINDER: The Town does not set any formal “trick or treating” start and end times.  And, if you’re looking to donate any leftover candy to worthy causes, these two organizations are looking to pass it forward.

#3) Wilmington’s David Newhouse and Bill Spencer will be holding their popular Haunted House on Sunday, October 30 and Monday, October 31, from 6pm to 8:30pm, at 3 West Jamaica Avenue. (West Jamaica Avenue is off of Faulkner Avenue, which is off of Glen Road.)  The house promises frights and tricks, with ghosts, witches, goblins and creates of the night! There will be additional entertainment for scaredy cats, including music and a light show. The event is FREE, but donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. #4) Need a last minute pumpkin? The Wilmington United Methodist Church (87 Church Street) is hosting a pumpkin patch on its front lawn from Sunday, October 16 to Monday, October 31, between 11am and 7pm. Proceeds from this new fundraiser will benefit the church’s 2017 youth mission projects. Story times will be held in the patch daily at 4pm.

#5) The Wilmington Memorial Library (175 Middlesex Avenue) is holding a Halloween Party for ages 3 to 6 at 10am. The is currently a wait list. Learn more HERE.

#6) The Wilmington Senior Center (15 School Street) is holding its annual Halloween party at 2pm.  There will be games, treats and a costume contest. Tickets cost $4. Contact the Senior Center for availability. Learn more HERE.

#7) Several Wilmington High School sports teams are in action:

  • 5:00 pm — GIRLS Varsity Soccer vs Burlington

#8) Red Heat Tavern (300 Lowell Street) is running its regular Monday special — “Mac Your Mondays.” Customers can create their own mac & cheese all day on Mondays.  Customers receive $2 off when the post their dish with the hashtag #RHTMAC on Facebook or Instagram. See the poster HERE.

#9) REMINDER: The curbside pick-up of leaves and grass clippings continues this week and extends through November 26. Residents should place their yardwaste in biodegradable paper bags or uncovered barrels at curbside on their regular trash collection day. Yardwaste in plastic bags will not be accepted.

#10) Residents can “vote early” in the Presidential Election TODAY from 8:30am to 7:00pm at Town Hall.  Learn more HERE.
