LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Robert Peterson Jr. Endorses Gordon’s Re-Election Bid

Fellow Residents,

There is no denying the fact that the temper of our political climate is unlike anything we have seen in the history of American politics. However, we cannot let the rhetoric of national politics dilute and distort the reality of our local government and the exceptional representation we are being afforded here in Wilmington and throughout the 21st Middlesex District. Sensible representation, proven results and a track record of community accountability, Representative Ken Gordon is well deserving of our vote to remain the State Representative of the 21st Middlesex District and to continue his representation of Wilmington’s Precinct 3.

As a voting citizen of Wilmington’s Precinct 3, I am steadfast in my belief that Representative Ken Gordon is the right candidate to represent the collective interests of the 21st Middlesex District. We deserve a State Representative that is informed on the issues and pragmatic in his approach to remedying the same. Ken Gordon has been, and will continue to be, that type of State Representative. When faced with an issue, Ken does not, and will not, “walk the party line”; Ken thinks through each issue he is faced with, and with every answer comes a well thought out, detailed explanation of his choice of action. So, while some might not always agree with Ken, they can find solace in the fact that he will always be willing to discuss his decisions with any constituent who would like an explanation on a given vote, decision and/or course of action.

Ken has been a champion for the 21st Middlesex District since he first took office in 2012. An employment law attorney specializing in representing employees in work related issues and disputes, Ken has been a stalwart for the working people of Massachusetts. At a meeting of national and state leaders held at the U.S. Labor Department in Washington, U.S. Deputy Secretary of Labor, Christopher Lu, called Ken a “visionary state leader”, due in large part to his efforts for the working people of Massachusetts.  Deputy Secretary Lu and Secretary of Labor Tom Perez invited Ken to Washington D.C. several times to speak on labor issues, most notably paid family leave – an issue which Ken has championed here in Massachusetts.  Lets allow Ken the opportunity to continue this great work and make even bigger strides for the working people of Massachusetts.

The accolades and achievements of Representative Ken Gordon are too numerous to list in the limited space I have for this letter. However, I suggest that all residents of Wilmington’s Precinct 3 take the time to review all that he has accomplished since joining the legislature four years ago. After doing so you will be as confident as I am that Ken is the candidate best qualified to represent the 21st Middlesex District. While I can go on at length on why I believe Ken is the best choice in this election, I believe Ken himself said it best when announcing his bid for re-election:

There are two kinds of legislators on Beacon Hill. Some show up just to talk, some to act. Some wave their fist in righteous indignation as opportunities pass them by; others sit down with colleagues, discuss their differences and get things done. In my four years in the Legislature I have focused on solving problems rather than making speeches about them. I have listened to your concerns, and addressed them.”

I implore you to support Ken Gordon in his effort to be re-elected as Representative of the 21st Middlesex District. Ken is the type of Representative we deserve, and he delivers the results that we need.

Sincerely,

Robert G. Peterson, Jr.
Voter, Wilmington Precinct 3
