GoFundMe Page Set Up For Wilmington Husband & Father Diagnosed With Cancer

WILMINGTON, MA — A GoFundMe page has been created to raise monies for Glen Sargent, a Wilmington man recently diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). Glen had to resign from his job and faces at least a year of treatment and recovery. He is a loving husband and devoted father of three, including two children enrolled in college.

The GoFundMe page reads:

Glen was recently diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma (MCL). MCL is an aggressive blood cancer for which there is currently no cure. However Glen is fortunate enough to have found a team of doctors at MGH who are the foremost experts in this specific type of lymphoma. Anyone who knows Glen knows that he’s the hardest worker on the planet, never asks for help and always puts others first. However, right now is our time to take care of him as best we can. Glen’s path will take him through high-dose in-patient and out-patient chemotherapy treatments, as well as stem cell replacement which requires approximately four weeks of in-hospital isolation.

Glen has been forced to resign from work because his course of treatment will take upwards of six months, with another six months of recovery. In the meantime, we don’t want the stress of missed income, rising medical bills, insurance premiums and other financial burdens that come to a family of five with two in college to prevent him from focusing on the fight that’s ahead him.

Because Glen is a kind and beloved man, his army of loyal supporters have been amazing, providing emotional, family and other support to Glen which he always receives graciously and appreciates, often with a sense of humor that only someone with his strength can (“I can’t pick the winner of a horse race but got the Superfecta of cancers.”). We thank all of you. Not surprisingly, we are still asked often “How else can I help?” After many discussions, his extended family felt that creating a campaign here was the best option as contributions can be used at Glen & Kathy’s discretion to best match their most immediate needs.

Coupled with his toughness, Glen will no doubt recover faster (and complain less) than anyone you’ve ever seen. Please help him and his family get through this.

Help spread the word!
