MIDDLETON, MA — Loretta M. “ Laurie” Alexander, 78, of Middleton, MA, died peacefully on Oct. 17, 2016 following a short illness.
Born and educated in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late William and Priscilla Hyatt. Laurie was a longtime employee of D. R. C. in Wilmington, MA. As a teen she was an avid softball player and always enjoyed following the Red Sox and Patriots. She became a member of the Council of aging in Boxford, MA. Laurie loved animals, especially cats and researching the travelling patterns of humming birds. She enjoyed time spent with her family and friends.
Laurie leaves her two siblings, Alan Hyatt and his wife Joyce of N. Reading, Betty Shaw and her husband Richard of Boxford, a nephew, Kevin Shaw of Brookline, NH, two nieces; Cynthia Comeau of Haverhill and Wendy Sweeney of Texas. She was predeceased by a dear friend and co-worker, Dorothy Dion.
Visitation will be held on Thursday morning, October 20, in the Mackey Funeral Home, 128 S. Main St., Rt.114, Middleton, from 10am-11am. A service will follow at 11am. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the MSPCA at http://www.mspca.org. or to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers, Ma 01923.
