WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 8 things you need to know in Wilmington for Friday, October 21, 2016.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, rain is likely in Wilmington with a chance of drizzle, mainly between 11am and noon, then rain likely after noon. Patchy fog. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 69. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
#2) Wilmington residents are cordially invited to a concert featuring New England’s Premier Beatles Tribute Band — 4EverFab — at 7pm at the Wilmington Middle School (25 Carter Lane). Admission is free. The concert is organized by the Sarah D.J. Carter Committee. The concert is funded by a grant from the Wilmington Cultural Council. Learn more HERE.
#3) Hailed as New England’s Best Beatles Tribute Band, Studio Two comes to the Shriners Auditorium (99 Fordham Road) at 6:30pm. Studio Two is a popular Beatles band that plays tribute to the group’s early years, choosing songs from the pre-Sgt. Pepper era. Rock ‘n Roll Hall-of-Famer Billy Davis, co-writer of “The Twist,” is scheduled to make a special guest appearance during the evening. General admission tickets cost $25 each. Tables of 10 are available for $250. Food will be available for purchase. The event will include a cash bar. No tickets will be sold at the door. #7) The Senior Citizen Work Program offers Wilmington residents the opportunity to work off a portion of their property tax by working part-time for the Town. The application for the program is TODAY. This year’s program will enable the Town to fill a minimum of 20 positions in various school and municipal departments. Participants earn $10 an hour for up to 80 hours of “volunteer” service. Since the program’s beginning in 1995, approximately 389 positions have been filled. Learn more HERE.
#8) Join Lyndell’s Bakery (720 Broadway, Ball Square) this weekend — Friday, October 21 to Sunday, October 23 — for its 4th Annual Sean Collier Memorial Fundraiser Weekend. The event raises funds for the Somerville Auxiliary Police’s Sean Collier Memorial Scholarship, which helps Somerville High School seniors pursuing a career in law enforcement. $1 from every sale of the bakery’s custom half moon with Sean’s Somerville PD badge #310 on it will be donated to the Scholarship Fund. The bakery will also have raffles for customers to take a chance on, including sports memorabilia. All raffle proceeds will also be donated to the Scholarship Fund. Free coffee will be served.
