WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington School Committee meets this Wednesday, October 19 at 7pm in the Large Instruction Room at Wilmington High School.
According to the meeting agenda, members are expected to begin by recessing into Executive Session for approximately 15 minutes to discuss an open meeting law violation recently filed against the Committee.
Wilmington Apple has learned that, upon returning to public session, the Committee will interview TWO interim superintendent candidates:
7:15pm — Joe Connelly, a teacher, principal and business administrator in Wilmington in the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s, who now seeks out interim superintendent roles
8:00pm — Mike LaCava, Principal at a Chelmsford Elementary School, a runner-up to Mary DeLai in the 2014 superintendent search, and a Wilmington resident
Wilmington Apple has also learned that the School Committee WILL consider candidates who do not interview. Former Superintendent Joanne Benton, for example, remains in the mix despite not having an interview scheduled.
After the interviews are completed, the School Committee is expected to have an open discussion and, before the evening is over, select a candidate to enter into contract negotiations to become Wilmington’s Interim Superintendent.
The meeting will be telecast live by Wilmington Community Television on WCTV-E — Channel 99 on Comcast and Channel 39 on Verizon. The meeting will also be streamed on WCTV’s website HERE.
Wilmington Apple will be live-tweeting the meeting HERE. The news will break there first.
