OBITUARY: Jaqueline M. (Volo) Bazzinotti, 74

WILMINGTON, MA — Jacqueline M. Bazzinotti (Volo), “Jackie”, age 74, of Wilmington, died peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on October 16, 2016.

Jackie was born on July 8, 1942, in Boston, MA; she was the cherished daughter of the late Giacomo and Gilda (Paone) Volo. Jackie lived in the North End of Boston and Somerville before her family settled in Medford. She graduated from Matignon High School in Cambridge and then to Boston College where she was one of the first Class of women to earn her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSRN). She furthered her education with a Master’s Degree in Education from Fitchburg State College.

Jackie enjoyed two careers at Malden Hospital; one as a registered nurse caring for patients, the other as a teacher of nursing at Malden Hospital’s School of Nursing Unit. She treated her patients and students as family and made sure they got the best care and education. Jackie went on to teach Nursing and Health at the Shawsheen Valley Technical High School in Billerica, MA; she loved her students and wanted to give them the best education and “tools” to go out into the healthcare profession.

Jackie was always at the forefront of Women’s rights and independence; for the last decade of her career, Jackie, taught continuing education for Hallmark Healthcare in Somerville. She valued a good education and continued to keep herself and others updated in the latest practices in her field; she was a true believer in people doing their best and went above and beyond to help others.

Jackie was known to be upbeat and on the go. Before it was fashionable for women to be independent she worked, cooked dinner for her family, did yard work and had big family Sunday dinners. She loved to travel, play tennis, sew, and master the piano. She could do anything she set her mind to- even reupholstering her red velvet love seat!

Jackie loved to entertain and throw parties for her family and friends. She loved the holidays and would play the piano and have everyone gather to sing Christmas songs. Jackie had a passion for antiquing and also collecting blue cobalt glass pieces.

Jackie’s family was always first and foremost in her life; her unconditional love and support for them was amazing. Jackie married her “beloved” Tony in May of 1989; together, they blended their families and made countless memories to last a lifetime. Jackie cherished the time she spent with her family; they were her world and she beamed with pride as she spoke of them.

Jackie will be fondly remembered as a “one of a kind lady”; she was kind, caring, and generous to everyone; she was truly a wonderful person and will forever be missed by all who knew and loved her.
