SELECTMEN NEWS: New Assistant Town Manager To Be Named Soon; Departing Amaral Praised

WILMINGTON, MA — At last week’s Wilmington Board of Selectmen Meeting, Town Manager Jeff Hull provided a public update on the Assistant Town Manager search.

While no names were revealed, Hull noted that 44 individuals submitted resumes in response to the job posting by the October 7 deadline.

“A screening committee has been established consisting of five department heads to assist me with reviewing resumes and conducting initial interviews,” said Hull.  “The plan is to schedule interviews with a short list of candidates within the next two weeks.”

Hull will then conduct second interviews with the finalists before making the appointment early next month.

Assistant Town Manager Kendra Amaral’s final day in Wilmington is October 20.  Amaral recently accepted the position of Town Manager in Kittery, Maine.

“Kendra has been a tremendous resource for me, Town employees and residents,” writes Hull in a memo he shared with the Board.  “Kendra’s contributions are wide ranging and include promoting the expansion of our technology both internally and in our dealings with the public, improving the Town’s human resource practices, assisting with the development of the last four budgets, and facilitating the completion of the Yentile Farm Recreational Facility.”

“Kendra has been a very valuable asset to the town,” added Selectwoman Judy O’Connell.  “I’ve worked with her on Yentile Farm among a myriad of other projects.  She’s certainly ready for the next step.”

“I hold Kendra in high regard,” agreed Selectman Mike Champoux.  “She’s a consummate professional who is very approachable and accessible…. She’s very well respected by her colleagues in the Massachusetts Municipal Association.  It’s a sad day for us in that we lose a tremendous resource and friend to Wilmington, but a happy one for her.  She will do very well in her new role.”
