Wilmington POLICE LOG (Week of October 2, 2016)

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for the week of Sunday, October 2, 2016.

Sunday, October 2:

  • Police received a report that a black 2002 Nissan Pathfinder struck a light pole and left the Ox Bow Drive area around 5:40am. Caller believed the driver to be a newspaper delivery man.  Police caught up with the Pathfinder on Allenhurst Way, who admitted to striking the pole. Police notified RMLD. (5:52am)
  • A North Washington Street resident reported three mailboxes on her street had been vandalized. Police confirmed. (10:04am)
  • A Fenway Street resident reported an unknown individual used his information to obtain a cell phone upgrade at a Verizon store in Pelham, NH. (12:48pm)
  • A caller stated their car door was struck by another vehicle in the Town Hall parking lot. Police confirmed minor damage. (1:59pm)
  • Police received a report of a tree in the road on Wildwood Street blocking traffic. Police moved a large tree branch out of the road. (2:22pm)
  • A caller reported an approximately 30 year-old disheveled man was presenting to tightrope walk in the Lucci’s parking lot. Man was reportedly “talking to the buildings” and later standing outside the ATM, acting “twitchy.”  Police spoke with the man and sent him on his way. (3:57pm)
  • Police noticed a vehicle at the end of the road on Research Drive with smoke emanating from the nearby woods. Situation checked OK. A resident had an enclosed fire pit. (6:05pm)
  • Police received multiple calls reporting a man dressed in pajamas stumbling onto the roadway at Aldrich Road and Boutwell Street, trying to flag down cars for a ride. Man seemed intoxicated. Wilmington Police were unable to locate. Man was eventually located by Billerica Police. (9:36pm)
  • The man later returned to Wilmington and was reportedly panhandling at the Cumberland Farm gas station. Police responded. Man called a cab to head home to Revere. (11:02pm)

Monday, October 3:

  • A white 2011 Nissan Altima was left in the Cumberland Farm parking lot overnight. Manager notified police and will give the vehicle’s owner a little more time before having it owed. (8:50am)
  • Police received report of a white man with a reflective vest and jeans walking around Cunningham Street taking photos. Police responded. Situation checked OK. Man was working for Reading Municipal Light. (10:20am)
  • Police received report of a man on the new field at Yentile Farm “hugging the goal post” and acting suspicious. When employees approached him, he stated he was praying.  Man left the park before police arrived.  Police got up with the man and advised him to stay out of the park. (11:15am)
  • A Deming Way Ext. resident believed someone took medication from her residence. (11:52am)
  • A possible sick fox was reported on Towpath Drive. (12:22pm)
  • A town employee witnessed a suspicious exchange in the Town Hall parking lot between two males, who were hiding items in their trunks and under their shirts. Both men sped off in their vehicles when they noticed caller was watching them. (4:18pm)
  • Police received multiple calls of a dead deer in the roadway on Main Street. Police moved the deer to the side of the road and notified Mass Highway for pickup. (8:55pm)
  • Edwin D. Rosado (29, Lawrence) was issued a summons for driving an uninsured motor vehicle. Rosado was driving for Uber. Police drove his passenger to their designation. Vehicle was towed. (9:30pm)
  • K9 Ridic assisted North Reading with the search of a 12-year-old girl, who was found. (11:32pm)

Tuesday, October 4:

  • A black 2012 Kia Optima and a white 2015 Isuzu NPR Truck were involved in a crash at Andover Street and Emerald Avenue. One airbag deployed. One vehicle towed. One driver transported by the Fire Department. (6:57am)
  • A Crystal Road resident reported he found a bag of jelly beans in his mailbox. There was a note attached that said “try some, they’re good.” Resident wanted the incident logged. (7:16am)
  • A caller on McDonald Road reported an overnight theft of tools at his worksite. (10:02am)
  • A Lake Street caller reported someone his her mailbox sometime between 7:30am and 8am. (10:54am)
  • A town employee reported an older man in the woods near the baseball field at Wilmington High. Man told the town employee that he was looking for baseballs, but the employee was not convinced. Police responded and situation checked OK. Man uses his baseballs for arts and crafts projects. (1:04pm)
  • A party reported that their $700 cell phone was stolen from the Dollar Tree sStore on Saturday. (2:26pm)
  • Officer helped a driver who had accidentally locked their 18-month old in their jeep in the Dollar Tree Store parking lot. (2:30pm)
  • Police notified Colonial Park Liquors on Main Street that they needed to surrender their liquor license to the station by tomorrow. (4:28pm)
  • A child called 911 when someone was knocking on her door. Child reported a flyer was left advertising window replacement. Police spoke with the caller who informed her that the solicitors had checked in at the station.  Caller was satisfied with the explanation. (5:16pm)

Wednesday, October 5:

  • Police noted an individual acting suspiciously near the dumpsters next to St. Dorothy’s. Situation checked OK. Individual was playing Pokemon Go. (1:45am)
  • A walk-in party reported tenants threatened to burn down their Marjorie Road house. Tenants had left for work and loud music was left on their apartment. (5:35am)
  • Police received a call that a black ATV was driving up and down Border Avenue. ATV was gone by the time police arrived. (4:23pm)
  • Police to mail a citation to a gray 2016 Jeep Cherokee for following an ambulance through traffic on Lowell Street. (6:30pm)
  • A Cedarcrest Road caller reported a package was stolen from his property. (7:30pm)
  • A juvenile walked away from the Milestone Group Home on High Street, but eventually returned. (7:57pm)
  • A caller reported a possible clown walking down Shawhseen Avenue. Police spoke with juvenile, who was dressed as a banana having just left a costume party. Police told him to remove the costume and head home. Police later received a call of children screaming in the soccer fields.  Police observed a group of 15 youths chasing the “banana” through the woods.  Police ensured the juvenile did arrive home safely. (7:57pm)
  • Donna Marie Prince (54, Wilmington) was arrested for OUI Liquor, Negligent Operation of a Motor Vehicle, and Marked Lanes Violation. (8:15pm)

Thursday, October 6:

  • State Police handled a 2-vehicle crash on 93 South, near Exit 41. No injuries noted. (6:16am)
  • Paula Barbosa-Chaves (25, Woburn) was issued a summons for Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle; Operating a Motor Vehicle with Registration Revoked; and an Uninsured Motor Vehicle. Barbosa-Chaves was involved in a minor crash near Burlington Storage on West Street. (8:08am)
  • Police responded to argument between neighbors on Grand Street.  Caller reported he was assaulted. Dispute was over a property line. (8:52am)
  • A Flynn Way caller reported a man was on her property taking measurements. She asked him to leave and he stated he had permission to be there.  He then took off on foot down the road. Police located the man, who claimed to have notified the homeowner that he was working for RMLD. (9:39am)
  • A walk-in party reported she was in possession of her father’s vehicle.  Her father was recently diagnosed with dementia and the family did not want him driving.  Party was concerned her father may call the station and report the vehicle missing. (10:57am)
  • Police confiscated a small amount of a Class D substance from a gray 2009 Ford Fusion after a traffic stop on Roberts Road. (11:32am)
  • Police responded to reports of tagging at Uptown Deli on Middlesex Avenue. (11:38am)
  • A caller reported a possible past “flim flam” at Lucci’s Supermarket on Lowell Street. (12:26pm)
  • Police responded to a dispute over payment at Sonny’s Mobil on the Run on Lowell Street. The caller wanted a coffee even though her credit cards were not working.  Caller said she would contact management in the morning. (8:56pm)

Friday, October 7:

  • A caller reported possible malicious damage done to her tire, which is now flat. Police responded. There were 3 small punctures in the side of the tire.  The caller’s vehicle was parked in the Wrighter Group parking lot on Ballardvale Street. (12:09pm)
  • Police notified the Public Buildings Department that the red light at the Middlesex Avenue/High Street intersection is out. (12:14pm)
  • A citizen reported a hypodermic needle near St. Dorothy’s Church.  Police retrieved the item and returned it to the station for destruction. (12:24pm)
  • An employee at HUB International New England on Ballardvale Street reported a hawk flew into a window and appears injured on the crowd.  Caller later reported the hawk flew away as the Animal Control Officer arrived. (12:46pm)
  • A tractor trailer took down electric and telephone wires on Lopez Road. Police contacted RMLD, which restored power to the area. Verizon was notified and responded. (1:00pm)
  • A Chestnut Street resident reported 8 Trump campaign signs have been stolen from his property over the past 2 weeks.  The thefts occur at night. (1:28pm)
  • A juvenile was reported missing from the Milestone Group Home on High Street. (5:05pm)
  • A walk-in party reported there will be a clown with a knife at the skate park on Shawsheen Avenue around 7pm.  Police checked area. No clown sighted. (7:20pm)
  • A Town Hall employee reported a group of juveniles were throwing objects at Town Hall. Police responded. Juveniles were gone upon arrival.  Police observed trash strewn about the playing field. DPW was notified for clean up. (7:45pm)
  • An Abundant Life employee reported several teen boys threw an assortment of beer over the fence of the school and drove off. (7:53pm)

Saturday, October 8:

  • Robert Alex Lebron (37, Wilmington) was arrested on warrant.  Lebron was also issued a citation for speeding, a stop sign violation, and failure to notify the registry of a change in address. Lebron was pulled over on Oakwood Road. (1:19am)
  • Police observed a mailbox on Federal Street damaged and laying in a driveway. (1:51am)
  • Jaime Adbiel Ramos (26, Peabody) and Karimar Ramos (25, Peabody) were arrested. Jaime was arrested for OUI Liquor, leaving the scene of property damage, and negligent operation of a motor vehicle. Karimar was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.  Ramos’s black 2010 Subaru Impreza struck a Gray 2011 Honda Pilot on Bay Street and left the scene. (2:26am)
  • A Judith Road resident reported their mailbox was struck by a vehilce sometime around 1am. (11:32am)
  • A Deming Way Ext. resident reported her friend’s vehicle was vandalized. Police did not find any apparent signs of malicious damage. (11:34am)
  • A Dell Drive resident reported around 11:15am he exited his home and encountered a black man and woman in his driveway. The man asked him if anyone at his home spoke Spanish. When he replied no, he left in the area. Caller wanted the incident logged. (1:22pm)
  • A Hopkins Street caller reported an ongoing issue of their mailbox and political signs being destroyed. (1:26pm)
  • A Grove Avenue caller reported identity fraud. (1:50pm)
  • A Radcliff Road resident believed she hears gunshots in the area. Police found the call unfounded. (9:49pm)
  • Police notified the Water D epartment of a water main break at the intersection of Cunnigham Street and Allston Avenue. (9:59pm)
  • Police received report of males physically fighting in the Market Basket parking lot. Police respond.  All parties deny reported activity. Police sent them on their way. (10:06pm)
