WILMINGTON, MA — Below are Wilmington Youth Soccer in-town game summaries from Saturday, October 8, 2016.
Girls Grade 2 Games:
FC Kansas City vs. Boston Breakers
The crowds gathered at the Shawsheen fields for this back and forth game between the Boston Breakers and FC Kansas City. The Breakers led by Claire Connelly, Megan Smith, Charrlotte Kiley and Anna Heiplik got the crowd jumping out of their seats. Madison Forbush, Emma Nolan and Abigail Engvaldsen led the scoring charge, while the great defensive effort of Molly Guyette, Hailey Reguera and Elisabeth Gillis kept the action going
The air was full of excitement, as this much anticipated match-up between FC Kansas City and the Boston Breakers commenced. Fantastic ball skills were displayed by Lucy Mendoza, Mia Machado , Madison O’Donoghue, and Isabel Carriere. The midfield and defensive play of Emma Tarin, Bailey O’Connor, Kalea Lamb, Jenna Giammarco and Anne Reppucci kept FC Kansas City in great shape. The crowd roared to their feet when Katelyn Perkins and Heidi Ferrer made some spectacular saves.
Boys Grade 2 Games:
NE Revolution vs. LA Galaxy
An amazing afternoon at Shawsheen as the New England Revolution played in what could be described as their best performance vs a strong LA Galaxy team. Strong play from Revolution players Nate Anderson, Ian Heos and Jackson Hegarty pressured the Galaxy defense all afternoon only to see their attack come up short. On the defensive side, Aiden O’Hearn, Joshua Nile, Thomas Murphy and Michael O’Hearn stopped the Galaxy from what would be sure goal scoring opportunities. Strong net performance from Zachary Atwater and Preston Hunter ensured a close match, while Cameron Molina and Daniel D’Augusta alongside Cole Falk showcased exceptional foot skills to leave the afternoon crowd cheering and wanting more. Great play all around and the Revolution will look forward to their next match.
Chicago Fire vs. DC United
Nobody stayed home for this action packed game. The Chicago Fire’s Jack Cronin, Collin Holman, and Jake Arsenault scored, getting the crowd jumping out of their seats. Outstanding offense by Jack Morin, Dillan Roberts, Devin DeGennaro, and Jonathan Malley set up many scoring chances. The flawless defense of Richard Holland, Carter Callis, Ben Harris, and Aiden Harris provided great protection for the Goal Keepers, Collin Holman and Jonathan Malley.
