WILMINGTON, MA — Here are 8 things you need to know in Wilmington for Saturday, October 8, 2016.
#1) According to the National Weather Service, it will be partly sunny, with a high near 68, in Wilmington. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon.
#2) The 2nd Annual Tony A 5K will be held TODAY. Registration and check-ins begin at 7:30am at the Wilmington Fourth of July Building. The race starts at 9am in front of Wilmington High School. Registration costs $35. T-shirts will be available to purchase for $20. Learn more HERE.

#4) The Wilmington-based Heaps of Hope is holding a fundraiser at the Sky Box (553 Main Street, Tewksbury) at 8pm. This 21+ event will feature a concert from Totally Inappropriate, plus raffles and a door prize. The cover is $5. Funds will be raised in memory of Annmarie Deacetis, a cancer patient who had been receiving assistance from Heaps of Hope until her death this July at the age of 54. Proceeds will be donated to cancer organizations through the Be Bald, Be Beautiful fundraiser.
#5) Several Wilmington High sports teams are in action today:
- 9:30 am — BOYS JV Football vs Melrose (Glen Road Field)
- 10:00 am — GIRLS Freshman Field Hockey vs Reading (Wilmington High School)
