WHS VOLLEYBALL: Wildcats Defeat Arlington On The Road, Inch Towards .500

WILMINGTON, MA — The Wilmington High School Varsity Volleyball team (5-7) picked up a very competitive road win, 3 to 1, against Arlington High School on Wednesday, October 5.

  • Set 1: Wilmington – 22, Arlington – 25
  • Set 2: Wilmington – 25, Burlington – 22
  • Set 3: Wilmington – 25, Burlington – 19
  • Set 4: Wilmington – 25, Burlington – 21

“This team continues to grow and improve every match they play,” notes Coach Bruce Shainwald.  “Heather Pozzi, one of the seniors on the team, and also one of the team’s co-captains, continues to show incredible leadership both on and off the court. She is fearless. Never afraid to serve hard and go for the ace; or to take a hard swing at any ball and go for the kill, and succeed far more often than not. The truly great thing is that Pozzi is not alone in this.”

“The Wildcats are able to win games with aggressive serves and a powerful offense,” adds Shainwald. “Antonia Kieran, Brittany Cimaglia, Morgan Bresnahan, and Emily Hill all contributed tough aggressive serves. Sabrina Doyle, Christina Woods, Morgan Bresnahan, and Caroline Andersen contributed on offense.”

“It is great fun to watch these girls play the game at a higher and higher level,” says Shainwald.

Wilmington faces off against the undefeated Winchester Sachems, in Winchester, on Friday.
