POLICE LOG for September 21: Pedestrian Struck & Killed By 90-Year-Old Driver

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are EIGHT highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Wednesday, September 21, 2016:

  • A Swain Road resident reported a larceny from his shed valued at $150. (9:20am)
  • A Hillside Way caller reported vehicles were speeding, with a heavier presence of trucks, during rush hour. Caller requested an officer to check during rush hour times. (9:45am)
  • Police installed 4 safety seats for residents during their weekly drop-in hours at the Public Safety Building. (10:47am)
  • A Deming Way resident reported a package she left out for the postal service was taken off her porch sometime after 12:00pm. Caller reported she checked in with USPS who denies having the package. (2:33pm)
  • The Reading Light Department reported they noticed a teen girl attempting to climb on top of their substation on Wildwood Street. Teen was gone by the time policed arrived. (2:45pm)
  • A pedestrian was struck and killed in the Rite Aid parking lot.  Rosemary J. Small (90, Wilmington) was issued a summons for negligent operation of a motor vehicle. (3:00pm) [UPDATE: As of the evening of September 27, the investigation into the crash is still open and active, according to Middlesex DA Spokesman Meghan Ryan.] 
  • A blue 2010 Volkswagen Routan and a gray 2011 Nissan Altima were involved in a minor crash in front of Rite Aid on Main Street. (5:24pm)
  • A gray 2010 Honda Accord and a black 2014 Subaru Legacy were involved in a crash on Main Street. The sign for Oakwood Road was knocked down and a rock wall and lawn at 56 Main Street was damaged. Fire Department transported one occupant to Winchester Hospital. One vehicle towed. DPW notified to replace street sign. (8:50pm)
