WILMINGTON, MA — Scott Garrant, Chairman of the Wilmington Fourth of July Committee, was in front of the Wilmington Board of Selectmen on Monday to receive formal approval to use the Town Common for the Town’s Annual Tree Lighting.
Garrant was granted his request, but not before sharing some details of the event, which will take place on Saturday, December 3. Festivities will begin at 4pm.
The event will include:
- Horse-drawn hayrides
- Cookies and hot chocolate
- Ice sculpture sponsored by the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce and some of its member companies
- Wilmington Minutemen with lanterns
- Wilmington High School a cappella Groups
- Wilmington High School Cheerleaders
- Wilmington Community Fund’s annual Wilmington-themed ornament sales
- Members of the Wilmington Fire Department collecting unwrapped toys and donations for Wilmington children
- Clergy from parishes throughout the town presenting the story of Christmas
“Santa will arrive, hopefully courtesy of the Wilmington Fire Department, promptly at 6pm to light the lights on the Common for us for the season,” said Garrant. “He’ll then be available for pictures with children – young AND old – in the Fourth of July Building.”
This popular community event is organized, sponsored and underwritten by the Wilmington Fourth of July Committee.
Garrant thanked the Selectmen and the Town Administration for their continued support of the event.
