POLICE LOG for September 20: Those Aren’t Drugs, Officer. That’s My Lunch.

WILMINGTON, MA  — Here are THIRTEEN highlights from the Wilmington Police Log for Tuesday, September 20, 2016:

  • Police conducted a check of Yentile Farm. The gate was found open and tire marks were noted on the hydro seeded area in the back of the property. Police secured the gate. (12:53am)
  • A Lee Street caller reported her doorbell keeps ringing, but she doesn’t see anyone in the area.  Police checked area.  Doorbell appears to be defective. (1:17am)
  • A police cruiser was involved in a minor car accident at the intersection of Bridge Street and VFW Parkway in Lowell. A blue 2006 Honda Accord pulled out of a Dunkin Donuts parking lot and tapped the rear bumper of the cruiser. (7:23am)
  • Bruno Cardia (39, Tewksbury) was issued a summons for a railroad crossing violation and leaving the scene of property damage. Cardia allegedly struck train gates on Main Street, leaving the gate lying across the roadway, and continued southbound on Main Street. Amtrac estimated the repair job at $2,000. (8:12am)
  • An anonymous caller reported young children were in the large dog area of the dog park. Police advised the parties. (8:40am)
  • A tree knocked down a railroad sign on Woburn Street. Police notified DPW. (11:23am)
  • Animal Control Officer took an injured seagull to a vet in Tewksbury. Seagull was located outside the Department of Public Works building. (11:39am)
  • A Marion Street Ext. resident reported their house was egged sometime after Saturday night. Owner just noticed it today. Owner requested extra patrols. (12:25pm)
  • A caller reported finding a bag outside outside her work on Concord Street, possibly containing drugs. Caller reported a young African American woman is in the area where the bag was found, appearing to be searching for it. Police responded and brought the bag back to the station to test its contents. Detectives determined the substance was clay used in the practice of geophagia (eating earth or soil-like substances such as clay or chalk.)
  • Animal Control Officer spoke to a driver who left his dog in the car, with the windows cracked, in the Savers parking lot. (1:03pm)
  • A gray 2005 Honda Pilot and a gray 2003 Dodge Durango were involved in a crash on 93 North. No injuries reported. Police transported a woman and 2 minors. (2:52pm)
  • Nicole M. Purcell (44, Salem) was issued a summons for operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. (4:58pm)
  • Police assisted the Fire Department with an oven fire on Ring Avenue. (5:14pm)
