WHS GOLF: Wildcats Have Great Week, Go 2-0-1

WILMINGTON, MA — Last week, the Wilmington High School Golf Team (2-2-1) had one of the best weeks in several seasons.

On Tuesday, September 20, the Wildcats tied a tough division opponent in Stoneham High, 36 to 36, at Bear Hill Golf Club.  Jake Fulkerson (#2) won his match, 5-4, while Jack Boyle (#6) won his match, 7.5 to 1.5.

On Wednesday, September 21, the Wildcats defeated Burlington High, 39 to 33, at Hillview Country Club. The victory marked the first time Wilmington defeated Burlington since joining the Middlesex League. Billy McEvoy (#1) shot a career round 35 and won his match, 8-1, while Jack Boyle (#2) also shot a 35 to win his match, 5.5 to 3.5.

On Thursday, September 22, the Wildcats nipped Wakefield, 36.5 to 35.5, at Hillview Country Club. The match came down to the last group and the last hole, with Bobby Lord sinking a put on the 9th green to seal the victory for Wilmington.
